Wow! This was by far the best stop for food in Mew Mexico. The service takes a little time because the restaurant is busy but that’s clearly because of how great the food is. The menu is exemplary of New Mexican style cuisine, a fusion of the flavors of old Mexico with the unique regionalisms of New Mexico and the US influence on the recipes. The avocado toast and waffles were excellent.

Other than good service and atmosphere, nothing positive to talk about this place. We went there after hearing about their chips and salsa. We ordered it to try (wasn’t complimentary). Chips were fresh and Salsa was spicy but lacks flavor. Also not sure if it was made fresh since didn’t see any fresh ingredients (cilantro, lime or onions). The street Taco, rice and beans were fresh but tasted bland! They definitely lack flavor and spice. I wouldn’t call this place authentic Mexican/new Mexican at all. The Chicken Quesadilla was ok.
Everything was overpriced compared to quality and portion in my opinion. Their compitaror (let’s say Sadie’s/Tomasitas) providing better quality of food with reasonable price and complimentary items (chips/salsa/sopapilla). But here we payed ~6$ for mediocre chips and salsa and more $$ for bland food. Why go back or recommend ?!

Not a family friendly atmosphere but service was outstanding. The sopapilla was pillowy and stretchy with just a tinge of sweetness. Sopapilla as a side can be requested but it’s not on the menu. We also appreciated the vegetable options, especially the calabacitos (zucchini, squash, corn mixture) taco salad, served in a crispy taco shell bowl. Sizzling sound and aroma of the fajitas was also tempting.

Really was disappointed. Traveling through the area, and thought that New Mexico was the place for tacos, especially local places. Got the fish tacos. They’re supposed to have a white sauce and cabbage, and comes with two sides. Several of my tacos didn’t have sauce or cabbage, so they were just plain fried pieces of fish in a plain corn tortilla. The rice was crunchy, the beans were mediocre, but edible. We did order the chips and salsa. The chips were good and fresh, but both salsas were VERY spicy and didn’t have much flavor other than hot, but were still the most flavorful part of the meal.
Skip this place, it’s not worth it.

I rarely leave negative reviews comment and I never imagined I would write when about Cocina Azul. I’ve been a loyal patron for years, and after our experience on Super Bowl Sunday I won’t be returning. What we witness is both disappointing and disheartening.
The way the owner treated the staff was unacceptable, and it became painfully clear that the loyal customers aren’t valued either. Working in a customer facing role myself I deeply appreciate great service and that’s always been the reason I supported casino Azul. Their staff is wonderful and works incredibly hard, but I can’t continue supporting and establishment with the owner bullies employees and takes advantage of patrons.
It’s a shame to see a place I once loved loose side of what truly matters

I walked across the parking lot today for lunch while I was waiting for tires to be put on my car.
I was promptly sat and my order was taken and brought to me quickly by my server, Kale. I do not eat out a lot because I think my cooking is better. But the brisket tacos, the calabacitas, and the Posole (recommended by my server) were all top notch and delicious. There was so much food and I couldn’t finish it all. I was 100% satisfied with the service, the facility, and my food. I’ll be back for sure.

I had the brisket and rib eye street tacos. They are mini taco size. The brisket was dry and didn’t have much flavor. The prime rib came with grilled onions and was pretty good. The sides were better than the tacos. The two salsas on the side were extremely hot, and I could not use them on my food. My server was very busy with tables and didn’t have time to check back with me once I received my food.

Me and my Husband got the combination plate which had 1 tamale,1 brisket taco,1 chile relleno, and 1 brisket rolled enchilada you can get a sopapilla or tortilla with it and rice and beans and your choice of chile my husband got christmas I got red on the side . We also got chips and salsa . Okay so the brisket seemed dry and tough but was ok the tamale was good the chile relleno was good and the enchilada was ok again brisket was dry and tough so made it hard to chew the chile was ok not hot at all now the sopapillas were a disappointment they tasted to much like yeast and were just not good at all service was ok could of been a little better would of like to get refills on our drink but very friendly and clean chips were very good salsa not good . Beans were also hard and rice is plan white rice no flavor. Do I recommend let’s say give it a try see what you think but for us this was the 3rd time trying and no more unfortunately.

Meh. Wanted to get takeout as requested by my guests. Their online ordering system is trash and doesn’t give options like over medium, xmas, no cheese, or chile on side. I tried calling but the phones were broken and disconnected after a couple rings. So I went in and ordered at bar. Server didn’t write down the order and of course got one of the three items wrong. Waited for 25 mins and wasn’t offered a drink while I sat at bar. The huevos were cheaper in store than if ordered online. Brisket tacos were expensive for what you get and dry.

So sad, we love the food. It’s one of the two or three best in town but the service is so spotty. One out of three visits we have friendly, attentive wait staff. Tonight we went in, got seated and ordered drinks from the person that sat us. We then waited 20 minutes for anyone to take an order or acknowledge our presence. After watching staff walk by avoiding eye contact for 20 minutes we gave up and went to El Patron, also great food. I hope they fix this because the food is great.
