Let me preface this review by saying that I never order chilquiles from any restaurant. It is a dish that has always been made at home, so I’m used to it being a certain way. Mainly, very spicy and more on the mushy side.
The atmosphere is pretty all over the place. Nice clean place. Was very busy. At times they play music very loud, then turn it way down you could barely hear it, then blast it again.
The service was also a lil weird. Everybody was very nice. Our server was good but after we ordered we saw her maybe twice after that. Didn’t get my water refilled till the end of the meal. Food didn’t come out all at once. Different people brought out different dishes so there was a little confusion there. Starter came out last as we were finishing our main.
As far as the food, wasn’t for me. The pancake was good. The burrito de machaca was probably the most flavorful dish I had. The chilquiles were underwhelming. Not much flavor. And the beans are very watery. By no means was the food bad. It’s good Mexican food for the masses. Also a bit on the pricey side.
Like I always say, please try it for your self. It was packed for a reason, a lot of people like it. Just wasn’t for me. I’d go back to try the torta ahogada tho.

Super tasty Mexican brunch place. Heavy focus on chilaquiles – not really much choice otherwise. Flavors are very authentic, and food is cooked well and comes out fast despite how busy the place is. We particularly loved the appetizer sampler platter (I know, of all things – just give it a try and you’ll see). Great kids menu with a large variety of fun options like spiced chocolate milk with chocolate covered marshmallow lollipops.
Service is not bad, again, given how busy the place is, although it can feel understaffed at times.
This place has always been packed when we’ve gone. Clearly a local favorite. Highly recommend making a reservation, otherwise expect to wait in line (possibly for a long time).

We had a party of 12, made reservations for 830 am, it was already busy but service was excellent! Drinks and meals out in a timely manner, every one was impressed with the menu selection! This visit was a treat! We will go again!

This waterfront restaurant on the shores of San Diego Bay is a standout in the city’s dining scene. The menu seamlessly fuses authentic Mexican flavors with a refined, gourmet presentation, creating dishes that are both familiar and elevated. Each plate showcases fresh, well-balanced ingredients prepared with precision. Service is warm, attentive, and well-paced, adding to the overall excellence without feeling overbearing. The setting is simply beautiful—offering stunning bay views that perfectly complement the experience. Prices are moderate and entirely reasonable given the quality of the cuisine, service, and location. A must-visit for those seeking exceptional food in a truly picturesque setting.

We walked passed this place on a Thursday at 8 am it was completely empty and we decided to go in the next day after. We are from Texas and we’re visiting a few days and didn’t want to eat hotel breakfast. The Friday we went in it was pretty busy but were sat fairly quickly. Mind you just myself and my husband, we waited about 10 minutes for someone to come over, while another family of 5 got sat and within 30 seconds someone was there to take their order. Our server was walking passed us and stopped in her tracks and was quick to ask if we were ready. We made our order and it was out within 7 minutes before our drinks came out. We both got “hot” lattes but they were warm at best. The food was good, again not hot but the flavor was there. Our server never came back after dropping off our food, we had to get another server to grab our check after waiting another 15 minutes after we were done eating. We’re not the type not to tip well, but this was a $65 check for 2 people for breakfast, so no she did not even get a 10% tip.

We decided to give it a go again the Sunday we were leaving. It’s about 8 am, empty, like 2 families of 2 or 3 people there, she asks if we are walk-in or reservation. I was confused because there was literally no line and a bunch of tables. We were sat, the server comes over, we both got the caffe de olla, again warm at best. The food again out within 5-7 minutes, flavors seem to be there but it definitely feels like they rush the food and the service. Server came back a few times to check on us, waited about 5 minutes after we were done to get our check. I asked her for our check and she comes over and asks “has anyone given you you’re check?” I was again confused since she was our server and had her little handy dandy machine on her, like was someone else supposed to give it us.

Service absolutely needs to be improved and maybe take a look at turning up the heat on the food and coffee because everything is warm/lukewarm.

I found this place on my open table app. It looked amazing. One thing is for sure, make sure to make a reservation. I made a 11:00am and that place is busy. If you cannot find street parking, there is a $3.00 underground parking lot or across a street. I am unsure how much it is since we were lucky find parking. Inside of the restaurant is beautiful. I love the atmosphere. The food is delicious. Everything there is a 10 star+. We took dessert to go but I am sure it’s fabulous. If you want to take a drive to San Diego and looking for a good brunch place. This is it. Oh and the service is amazing. We had Karla and she took good care of us.

Amazing green chilaquiles. The red ones are tomato sauce so wont recommend. I would really prefer that the Cafe de olla have the original sugar added. The sweet bread is delicious too. Make reservations or you will wait.

This place was amazing! My family and I were visiting from Houston, we walked by and hostess Michelle greeted us and was informative with the menu and displays they had, she then walked us to our table.

Our waitress Emily was so inviting and informative with the menu as well also advised us on what to try out. Can I say that the food was delicious chilaquiles and the kids menu was so delicious. Plus the place and view were so beautiful! Can’t wait to come back!

Thank you for such a great experience!
