This is a really special place to stop, we highly recommend.
Everything was handmade and the portions are huge. We started with the street corn and chicharrones which were freshly fried up and still cracklin when they hit the table. The homemade sangria was phenomenal. My husband got the fried chicken sandwich and it took up the whole plate. I got the fried shrimp plate and they were not shy with the shrimps. They were juicy, fresh and perfectly fried.

Past this place on our way home from a trip to Brenham a couple of weeks ago. I made note of it and mentioned to my husband that we need to check it out. Today was that day and let me tell you it did not disappoint! My husband had the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. It came with a salad (homemade ranch). I had the fried shrimp with remoulade and and order of onion rings. Both dishes were phenomenal in our opinion. We are already planning to stop on our next trip in the area. Everything is homemade. Charlie & Eileen are very friendly and so is the rest of the staff. Now if fancy is your thing then keep going, but if you want some good ole hospitality and great food this is your place. Ohh and did I mention the desserts are homemade as well Our first time there, BUT it won’t be our last!!

This is definitely an amazing place to eat, highly recommend it and worth the drive out for anyone that lives further out. The older man is such a kind hearted man that really goes out of his way to talk to you and make sure you are enjoying and love the food, him and his whole team he has are amazing. Incredible food tasted like home cooked. Literally some of the best we’ve ever had. The highlight of the visit was Charlie and his wife Eileen. We quickly felt as though we had been adopted into their family. All the fabulous comments about them in other reviews are right on target. One of the nicest couples you will ever meet.

A country TREASURE! Had the BEST meal and the best time at Cochran’s Grill. A gentle giant of a man named Charlie in a ten gallon cowboy hat greeted us and he was a real character– as sweet as the peach cobbler! Called us by name and even introduced us to the next table. Talked to those fine people for twenty minutes! Portions are huge. Fried green tomatoes were outstanding! Steak was great, fried catfish was amazing! The atmosphere is authentic and charming and we felt as if we had slipped back in time a hundred years or so to a simpler, kinder, more nurturing time. Didn’t want to leave and go back to our busy lives. Might just go back next week to take another step back in time! Or Charlie might just call us to return since he asked for our phone number to keep us posted on Cochran Grill events. 🙂 We actually hope he calls us real soon! 10/10 and tell Charlie hello from us!
