Nestled in a cove in Hafen City, Coast by East is an upscale restaurant focusing on Asian cuisine.
Perfect for any occasion, especially date night and corporate dinners. The atmosphere is one of elegance and comfort.
The menu is dominated by Sushi, Sashimi and Tempura options. Every dish we ordered was a flavour bomb. The restaurant has added its own twist to the cuisine and it pays off very well. There is also an extensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails which were as excellent as they were expensive. Only wish the portion sizes were larger though.
The service was excellent right from the coat check to the bill. The gentleman who served us made some good recommendations and was very enthusiastic throughout.
We had the Matcha Tiramisu for dessert which was a miss for me but maybe I’ll try something else the next time.
Overall, one of the finer restaurants which backs up the high price tag with some fantastic food, drink and service, guess the price does make sense 🙂

The uni (sea urchin) nigiri? Silky, briny, sweet — the kind of bite that makes you pause mid-chew and whisper “wow.” They even have a seasonal sashimi board that changes daily, showcasing fish so fresh it looks like it just swam off the boat.
The cocktails? Artisanal masterpieces.
Service is impeccable without being stiff. Staff move with quiet grace, anticipate needs before they arise, and clearly adore what they do. Our server spent time explaining each dish’s inspiration — not because we asked, but because they wanted us to feel the story behind every bite.

Friday afternoon/ evening reservation for a family group of 6 adults, two 2yos, one 1yo and two dogs.
Super atmosphere thanks to amazing staff. Other guests were kind and seemed happy.
Any additional request was handled really well.
Food was absolutely delicious. And price was adequate given the quality and taste.

Amazing Place, Excellent service. I would recommend any dishes which include Duck, as well as the Tempura Prawns. The service was excellent, especially from my waiter Stefan. He, among the other staff were extremely kind and enthusiastic. His recommendations helped us as lot and the service was very fast and reasonable. I should also give him Kudos for working on Christmas Eve (The day that we went), which is also Christmas in Germany. I thank him incredibly for working on that day, rather than staying at home with his family. However we didn’t eat any dessert as the food we ordered was very filling, so you will have to turn to other reviews to find out about that. The food is excellent and I have no complaints whatsoever. Thank you very much Stefan! 10/10

The views offered at this restaurant are fantastic, letting you gaze out at the new skyline of Hamburg. The last time I was in Hafen City was 2018, so returning to this new skyline was amazing.
Service was excellent and friendly and all staff are proficient with English.
In terms of the food, we ordered the Chef’s omakase sushi. Overall it was good, not out of this world, but good. There’s a lot of creativity with the sushi there.

Excellent dinner (altho not authentically Asian) and overall good service. The vibe/ambience is a little flashier than is my norm but I totally enjoyed it. I ordered the Tuna Tartare in Romaine Lettuce which was delicious, and the Hot (i.e. spicy) Tuna Roll which they kindly made for me without the seaweed wrap. The dessert was an absolute standout: coast Monte with Hazelnuts, White Chocolate and and Nut Ice Cream. This is a very popular spot with all ages and also business types as well as groups of friends. They have a beautiful terrace as well. And the front of house staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
