The morning after Valentine’s Day always sets the bar pretty high for food, so we made it our mission to find a breakfast spot that could hold its own — and this place absolutely delivered. We were genuinely surprised by how wonderful everything was. The omelets, hash browns, and home fries were all spot on, and the service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome from the start. We didn’t try the desserts this time, but they looked phenomenal and definitely earned a “next visit” note. It’s a little outside the usual Pittsburgh path, but when we’re heading toward the slopes, this will definitely be a stop we’re happy to make again. Thanks for a fantastic start to the day — we’ll be back.

Open seating, plenty of parking, great access to the restaurant right off rt30. The entrance is welcoming. The menu has lots of options. Unfortunately, the maple syrup is fake, which doesn’t make sense knowing there is lots of maple producers in Somerset County. I’d pay an extra fee just to have real syrup on the French toast on the menu. The sausage is not local either despite knowing there is a pork producer and butcher down the road. There are lots of local sausage options. Again, charge more for the real “local” stuff if need be. $3.50 for one glass of chocolate milk is a bit too high. Lots of dessert options and they were to be homemade. Been a long time since I ate here, but over medium eggs were over hard, dry and crispy.

Have driven past this restaurant many times but honestly did not know it was a restaurant until recently as I am not from the area. Decided to give it a try after seeing ads. There is no host to seat you as it is seat yourself. The dining room is open with lots of seating. There is also a small room where you walk in that can be for a private party. Our waiter was a bit slow to arrive at our table but he was friendly. Portions were large and the food was good. The dinner rolls you need to ask for and they cost around a $1, but they are large and worth the money. They make some huge desserts like their gob cakes, which are delicious. Prices are not bad. Parking located in the front and rear. Building makes for a unique experience.

Coal Miner’s Diner is a nice, quiet diner to enjoy a meal with family and friends. Good food and service. We went for our first time this morning. Between My husband, our daughter and I, we had omelets, french toast, bagel, sausage and toast. It was all really good. They prefer cash over card and have an atm inside if you need to use it.
I recommend giving it a try!

Pasta Pescatore: Alfredo sauce was very bland, needed more cheese & salt. The calimari was cooked perfect as was the muscles and shrimp. There was, I think, 2pc of norwegian lobster but it was good. I believe the noodles were homemade.
Meatloaf n Mashed Potatoes: large, beefy serving and real potatoes.
Crispy Chicken Salad: nice big salad, lots of veggies, tomato just ok. Pretty skimpyvwith the chicken.
All served with their big homemade buns.
Deserts were ok. Coconut cream pie had no meringue wth.
Service was good.

We ordered a hickory smoked burger n cheeseburger n fries. The hamburger itself, 10/10. Delicious flavorful beef, hand-pressed beef on a homemade bun. I thonk it was a half pound burger. Gobs n gob cakes that looked 6″ high.
Rachael was a wonderful, pleasant server.
Will go back!!!!

A great place to eat when visiting the Flight 93 Memorial site. Pancakes and French toast with bacon were served in huge portions fresh off the griddle.

One of the best places for a home cooked meal. The Mac n cheese side is SO GOOD. Roast beef sandwich was perfect! Always enjoy eating here. Prices are reasonable as well!

My sister lives in town and we went for breakfast. The outside is such a beautiful building!! It’s much larger inside than I thought it would be with private rooms for parties. Our breakfast was delicious and served timely. The vegetables in the omelette were crispy and fresh. The pancakes were fluffy and delightful. And that syrup pump was amazing!! I need that!! I’m sad that I don’t live in this area as I would be here all of the time.

Local eatery very nice. Stopped in for a quick bite. Wow, under different management (new owner). What a difference! Food was great! Better atmosphere (out with the old & in with the new) how pleasant. The food dishes listed below: ALL were fantastic. Covid mask, clean up, social distance observed. I highly recommend a stop in to taste daily specials, or coffee & desert. “touch of Dutch” You will taste what that means. Wait staff friendly & prompt. Fish on Friday was wonderful (pic below). Stop in, prices are just unbelievably low ! Let’s help her stay in business, we need her in the area.

Really nice little diner, with lots of tables in their spacious dining room. They have a side room too for larger parties (a group of 20 came in while we were seated). Large menu selection- the egg salad and crab melt sandwiches we had were delicious! And we had a huge slice of chocolate gob cake for dessert- it was more than enough for two people. You know the desserts are good when the dessert menu is hand written!
