I never complain, ever but on this occasion I couldn’t not because it was so bad. I went with a group of 6 last night for an 80th birthday meal and the food took an hour, after asking the waitress what’s going on. When 2 dishes came out, one hunters chicken and one gammon it was literally stone cold, one of the meals looked anaemic everything was cold including the meat and eggs. My Nans meal was suppose to arrive on a sizzling plate but it didn’t. The poor 2 members of staff seemed very embarrassed and stress and explained their was a staff night out so they didn’t have a chef or the staff capacity, the chef wasn’t used to the menu as the all came from a different site. I dont understand how you could accept a booking in this case. It wasn’t just me asking for a refund, I saw and heard someone infront of me do the same. The 2 staff were lovely and they ended up serving us another meal (burgers so can’t go wrong) and that was red hot and cooked. I felt bad for them as it wasn’t their fault but after waiting for food for an hour to get served meat that did not look cooked/ cold in the middle, it put a dampen on the evening and we definitely won’t be coming again.

Hello I’m wanting to write a review to say I’m always so happy when I go here for lunch with my son. There is a hostess called hannah who is always soo attentive and always has the biggest smile on her face she always makes me feel so welcomed and is one of the many reasons I keep going back. The food is always clean and fresh. Will continue to come for lunch all through 2026. Amy x

Arrived at the coach and horses on Friday 6th February about 6pm .on arrival we noticed that all the tables had been reserved for quiz night , the bar area was packed . My husband has mobility issues and uses a cane to steady him .We ordered a drink and asked if we could sit at one of the tables until the quiz started at about 7.30 . No one was sat at any of the tables at this time and we were only going to stay for 1 maybe 2 drinks or order food if it wasn’t too busy . We were told no . We ended sitting outside in the damp cold weather, as my husband couldn’t stand for that length of time . Needless to say we left after 1 drink .
We got a far better reception at the Toby carvery just around the corner . They too were having a quiz night but no tables were reserved. I bet half those tables in your pub stayed empty when quizzers decided the weather to bad to come out .
Not sure we’ll be back .

We had a really nice meal at the Coach & Horses in Portsmouth. The food was very good for the price, we paid just £26 total for two mains and two large Diet Cokes, which felt like great value. I had the falafel burger and my dad had the mushroom bake, and we both really enjoyed our meals.
The food came out quickly and was fresh and well cooked. The drinks did take a little while to arrive, but that was completely understandable as the bar was fairly busy at the time. Overall, a great pub with tasty food, good value, and a relaxed atmosphere. We’d definitely come back!

Great experience got here on a Saturday just after 12. Staff were attentive and courteous. Good food and prices. Wanted a drink not in tap which one of the staff went and got the reserve box for. Overall for what we paid great experience on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Very dissapointed the bar was busy a big group served. A lone customer on his own my turn to be served the lady with curly hair was to serve me next.
Waiting by tge till she went to the till near the public bar to serve another customer who at no point near the bar was very cross will at no point be coming back no drinks or food ordered and i doubt the staff will not care you tell thestaff

Everything I expected out of an english restaurant / pub. We have a good atmosphere, and the fish was delicious and straight to the point. Kid and pet friendly. Just make sure you register your car after you park. I would bring my phone or the guys when watching sporting events here.

We asked for coffees after our meal the guy that served us said they have no milk weird we thought so asked him gor a black coffee with cream but was told no cream so we ended up with black coffees as he told us no milk delivery until friday . The table next to us all had coffees with milk about 10 minutes after us . Not great staff communication its a shame as everything else was perfect .

Went to the Coach and Horses yesterday with my daughter and grandson . Was served by a lovely friendly girl called Hannah she couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive a complete credit to the company . We will be returning on a regular basis now because of friendly service and a wonderful steak dinner beautiful cappuccino coffee all served by an excellent host making her customers feel valued .

One member of staff told us to order on the app. Turns out the app wasn’t turned on or working. Big waste of time, sent to the back of the queue. Then stopped serving early so when we wanted to order a dessert, was not available, despite advertised dining times. Food was alright, what you’d expect for the price.
