The evening itself was equally impressive. James, our dedicated server, was polished and attentive, ensuring the night flowed effortlessly. Bryee, the night manager, was present and engaged, and Chef David took the time to personally check on our group, a gracious touch that did not go unnoticed.
The menu was outstanding. The chicken tenders were breaded in house and generously portioned. The catfish was beautifully crisp and flavorful with an impressive portion. Steaks were cooked to perfection, and the burgers were juicy and satisfying. Combined with a warm ambiance and impeccable service, the entire evening felt special and thoughtfully executed. A memorable celebration and a wonderful place to mark a milestone.
My search for a local Clarksville restaurant offering a ribeye steak led me right to Clyde’s. I thought I had hit the jackpot-close to home, 14oz ribeye steak on their website menu with great reviews, and somewhere new to try. I had read mixed reviews, but for the most part, the reviews on the ribeye were positive.
I reserved a table on their website (very user friendly), marked that it was for my husband’s birthday (because sometimes they’ll mention it when dining, to make it more personalized), they didn’t (which is fine, of course, and I’m not sure if the restaurant staff sees that or not, but would’ve been a nice touch-no biggie, just some feedback).
When we got to the restaurant, the hostess was very friendly and attentive, the space was much larger than expected and decorated beautifully. I mentioned we had made a reservation (it wasn’t busy, but I didn’t want them to hold a table, thinking we didn’t show). I was also hoping for acknowledgment of his birthday, again not a deal breaker, just a mention. The hostess addressed us by name from the reservation and asked if a booth would be fine, which it was, our favorite! She led us over to a huge U shaped bench table, which offered plenty of room and was comfortable.
Our waitress, I didn’t catch her name was very friendly and attentive.
Upon reviewing the menu, my Husband mentioned how they did not have a ribeye steak (we had not talked prior, I just know that is his favorite cut). I didn’t believe him, because I had checked prior, both on the website menu and the FB account page, even reading a post from a customer asking if the new menu had rolled out and the moderator saying no, not yet.
That was a major disappointment, since that was the catalyst of picking Clyde’s in the first place. My husband also enjoys shrimp cocktail, so I ordered it from the bar menu in place of an appetizer. The shrimp were large, as described, but were bland and overly chewy, the cocktail sauce had a distinct taste I can’t quite put my finger on, but not your typical cocktail sauce. Not to my liking, but that is subjective. My husband bit into one and immediately was turned off by the over-doneness and overall taste. Another fail. I ate a few, partially to justify the cost and partly to try and remain positive, but we ultimately did not finish or take it home.
When it came time to order, I chose the NY strip and my husband chose a steak sandwich. The food came out quickly, not too quickly from the appetizer, it was spaced just right- kudos to our waitress.
My steak was cooked perfectly, but there was a lot of fat and unseasoned. The garlic herb mashed potatoes were ok, the seasonal veggies, squash and zucchini were good. Overall for me, it was just ok – I had to ask for salt and pepper as they weren’t provided on the table. Our waitress did however bring out very nice wooden mills for both upon request.
My husband enjoyed his french fries, but remarked that they tasted very much like fries from Checkers-he ate all of them (win!). He ate almost half of one half of the sandwich and stopped there. He described it as bland, badly needing seasoning and overall thought it didn’t taste like steak. Another fail.
I took some to go boxes of my steak and sides, mostly because I don’t like to waste food & especially for the price.
Ultimately, my Husband was not impressed and probably won’t visit again, at least not anytime soon. We made the most of the night, but it was a bummer for me, as I thought this would be a great meal.
I’ve heard good things about lunch from friends, the reviews, while mixed, seemed optimistic, but this visit sadly, just fell short.
PROs: Atmosphere was great, not too loud, nice layout and the deck (while we stayed indoors) looked nice. Hostess and waitress were both friendly and attentive. Food came out quickly and evenly-spaced between courses.
CONs: Menu discrepancy. No acknowledgment of occasion. Food taste.
We love the astetics of the place! If you haven’t been, go. If it’s been awhile, go again! We intend to
Full bar, kids menu, and a good range of hearty breakfast/brunch items. Reasonable prices, with high dollar choices for steak breakfast lovers. Took my two kids with me, they order adult entrees. With drinks it was all under 60$ for the three of us – absolutely worth it.
Chicken & Waffles and the Clydes Breakfast platter were both enjoyable. It would be hard to leave still hungry after ordering anything off the brunch entrée menu.
