I had the western omelet which was very cheesy (that’s a good thing as I love cheese) and done well. The potatoes with it were spiced nicely but not uniformly done. Some crunchy some very soft, but they tasted good. I also tried the French toast that was done well and tasted good with fruits and powdered sugar on top.
Clearly coffee was an important part of this meal and although they were out of my original order I was recommended the mint latte and it was mildly sweet with the right amount of flavor. The iced caramel was also good that I was able to try.
The setting is both child friendly and the staff is good at making you feel at home. Recommended for a decent breakfast or brunch, and a nice place to sit and talk over a good coffee.
Pros:
* the front staff are really great! Patient, take the time to get answers to questions, and are honest both if they can’t answer a question or if you are trying figure out what flavors of things you may like or dislike. Friendly too!
* Clear images of seasonal menu items gives a sense of what you could be getting.
Cons:
* Not sure if it’s a menu thing, or if it’s an availability thing, but in either case, item prices are not consistently listed…like anywhere. I came in knowing what I wanted to try, but it all still ended up being more expensive than I expected, and I just would have liked the opportunity to know the cost up front.
*This is the real sticking point for me (personally); the quiche was not the good deal that I remembered eating in the past. It was waaaaaay smaller than it was last time I had it from here, and for what had to have been over 5 dollars, it was just a snack, when it’s supposed to be a light breakfast. It was also much soggier than most quiches. Perhaps there’s an egg to milk ratio thing that was off?
*There was a rock in my cheesecake; not kidding. Truthfully, I suspect the rock (as it was pebble size) is not the fault of the cafe, but possibly their supplier. The cheesecake was a berry mix, and if the were using a pre-made blend, like frozen mixed berries or something, I can see manufacturers accidentally not catching a darkish pebble in a mix of darkish berries. But it was still weird.
In conclusion:
There wasn’t anything remarkable enough about the food to make it feel like I got my money’s worth. I enjoy the memories. Maybe I’ll try again in a few years.
Greek burrito was very good, loaded with veggies, and a flavorful aoli.
The potatoes were super crispy.
Staff was all friendly and fun.
