If you want down-home cooking in a friendly atmosphere, this is your place! The portions are plenty, and the prices are fair. They are under new management, and their name will be changing to Sam’s. I will drive from Birmingham just to eat here!

After change in ownership, I feel the need to leave a new review.
As R & J’s, I gave them a 5 star review. However, for Sam’s (the new name), I’m giving them a 3 star. Everytime I have placed an order to-go, getting the same thing, it always comes different, like they can’t get it right. And the portion size is ALOT smaller now too! Before, the to-go box would be full, but now it’s not even half full. I’d be fine with it, if the prices dropped too, but unfortunately they haven’t.

This place is like going to your granny’s house to eat! Bit of a drive from where we were staying but it was absolutely worth every second! And the scenery along the way was absolutely beautiful! Fantastic prices and large portions! If you leave this place hungry it’s all your fault!

It is a little confusing because the building no longer says R & J. I thought I also saw something that said Sam’s. The building right now just says Cafe. The food was good. We had Reubens and the meat was obviously canned meat. Much better than some of the ingredients I’ve had from other diners. Given the price, it was excellent.

Love this place! I drive half an hour to eat there. Service a little slow but the food is more than worth the wait. You will need a to go box. Can’t eat all they serve in one sitting. And the price is very reasonable.

I live in Laceys Spring AL. I took my wife here for dinner tonight. It was our first visit. Well worth the drive. Great food, excellent menu and Amazing Staff. I look forward to our future visits. There will be many.

Came in close to closing time and was treated to one of the best hamburger steaks I’ve ever had ! Plus delicious perfectly fried okra and squash that was not greasy and stayed hot until the last bite of a generous portion 🙂
