Got the shrimp plate and carne asada burrito. Both were good. This is not the best burrito ever. Pretty good for the value. Second time, and both times were good! Services fast and convenient. We have some tables just outside for a quick sit and bite.

Nice staff, good food, & their to-go containers are reusable! We really like the verde sauce. We would eat here again note to self: rice was only okay, beans were bomb

The tacos were just okay… actually below the average. Didn’t have any flavors.. so bland.. price was okay. The guacamole was just avocado.. no other ingredients. The salsa Fresca had bitter flavor, tasted like it was fermented, not fresh! Sorry.. but the service was good..!

Gave this place another chance today since mexican food options are limited in Coronado. They confirmed why I never go here. Paid $15 for a breakfast burrito which was supposed to be egg, hashbrown, cheese and avocado. Easy, right? Nope. I got a burrito with rice, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. Others have called this place mid but by San Diego standards it’s way worse than mid. I’ve also noticed that the people who actually like this place aren’t from California so their standards are pretty low. If you want GOOD, AUTHENTIC mexican food, do yourself a favor and drive over the bridge to Barrio Logan or across the strand to IB.

Let me just say this is a great choice!
Pros: I got the chicken taco salad, the taco shell was so delicious! I want to just go order one all alone. The chicken portion was fabulous!
Con: the chicken wasn’t seasoned very well. Adding the salsa kind of helped. But it was too spicy of salsa for me.
My husband ordered a burrito and loved it. He did note that it was a bit to overpowering in the flavor of the meat. But overall would definitely go back!
Prices have updated so I am including a picture of the menu from Clayton’s.

This is 3 places in 1! On the corner is a dinner vibe with outdoor tables. Very traditional American food. Next to it is a window walk up coffee shop. Next to that is Clayton’s Mexican Takeout. Walk in the door to order and there’s 2 tables outside so you can eat on site. The portions are huge, the flavor is great! We came in and got the King Monster Burrito and the Coronado Surf and Turf Burrito. Both were amazing! We will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu!

Fantastic hole in the wall burrito annex just behind the main Clayton’s coffee shop. Food was ready quick, though be careful to listen for your order because they often yell dishes rather than order numbers.
Ordered the birria California burrito, and it was outstanding, with plenty of filling.

The food was excellent, perfect easy takeout for when your kids aren’t feeling a sit-down meal. Everything we ordered was delicious with big portions.

Over priced and underwhelming.
The burritos you see here cost $9 each!
The cost is not a problem if it matches the product but in this case there is a huge disconnect.
The meat seemed like something they got out of a can. The fries in the California were the cheap crinkle cut kind and were totally soggy mush. There wasn’t much flavor nor pride in the product.
The customer service was non-existent.
I came here based on a recommendation and I will not go back and I’m beginning to question my friend’s taste who recommended the place.
If you are stuck in Coronado it’s better than starving but if you have a car, go over the bridge and check out Salud or heck even Taco Bell.

We stopped for lunch on a busy New Year’s Eve on Coronado Island. The food options were varied. We were able to find something for everyone in our party, including one vegetarian and one gluten-free person! The service was friendly and the food was delicious. We snagged one of the tables out front, which was key.
