On the road and found this place…stopped based on the reviews…wow it will NOT DISAPPOINT…food was hot and delicious!!
We tried their special Vegetable Soup and sandwich (grilled cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches) are amazing!! But don’t forget to get the sweet tea….waitress was great too!!

The staff was really friendly and their was a good selection of food to choose from. My food came out fast and hot with lots of flavor. The atmosphere was comfortable. Many of the people there were return customers and seemed to know each other. All were very warm and friendly as I was dining at a table alone. I give it a BIG thumbs up!

Food is always good. Always fresh. Staff is amazing and make sure you are doing ok all the time. Checking on how the food is and making sure you have a full drink. They know the specials by heart. Price is very good.
The owner will come around to every table and ask how you food is, how your day is. If you go often he will say hello to you by name.

Classic Diner is a favorite! The diner offers the feel of a “Classic diner.” The restaurant is clean and accessible with nearby parking. The staff are very friendly and helpful with choosing from the everyday menu or from one of their daily specials. They are open for breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday and offer diner on Thursday and Friday evenings with added options like ribs and steaks. The pizza burger is the best around and you can never go wrong with a Classic hotdog. 5 stars from me!

I walked in and thought… this is my kind of place… it’s really classic. Of course then realized as the name reflects, it is a classic diner. I love having breakfast out. And this Classic diner, did not disappoint. Eggs were fresh and perfectly prepared; hash browns were crispy and tender. The country link sausage was a big fella and very very tasty. Absolutely love this place!! The food is good, but it’s the people that really make this place what it is. The staff are all super friendly. Bud, the owner is the BEST! He’s always there to mingle with the lunch crowd and makes you feel important. They promote good Christian values and are a big part off the success and revitalization of downtown Tarboro. The 50’s classic theme is well done. The murals are fantastic. If you’re ever in the Tarboro area and have time for as quick lunch, definitely give this place a try!

Restaurant has poor service, waited like 10 minutes for our drinks. Wait staff doesn’t seem to know what they are doing. No order. Chaos.. seems they need to set up who is waiting on which table. Ordered items from menu but was charged almost twice what was listed on menu. Called back to speak to owner/manager. Was told that I was charged extra for pickles,lettuce and tomato. The deluxe cheeseburger should come with these. Listed as 2.99 on menu. I however was charged 5.50 for the burger. My friend with me had 2 complete combos and only was charged 2 dollars more than me. Don’t eat here. You can’t judge what you are spending based on the menu and unless you have unlimited time it’s a waste of time and money!

Delicious food and friendly service. The owners are the nicest people you’ve ever met. You’re missing out, if you haven’t had their pizza burger or hotdog! My favorite place to eat in Tarboro.
