This is a very cozy place. We had a nice quiet dinner. All of the food was great, but the Eggplant Appetizer was the star of the night! Delicious!!!

Civile is a hidden gem tucked away on Main Street in Metuchen, and it just might be my new favorite Italian spot in the Edison area. The food here absolutely delivers. I had the thickest, most perfectly cooked pork chop I’ve ever tasted—juicy, flavorful, and served over a bed of rich potatoes and peppers that brought the whole dish together.
The sausage meatball was another standout: incredibly tender and bursting with flavor, paired with a creamy pink sauce that I could’ve eaten with a spoon. The grouper was fresh, flaky, and cooked to perfection, and the pappardelle was silky and well-balanced.
Service was quick and attentive, and while there’s no alcohol menu, it’s BYOB—so bring your favorite bottle and enjoy a great night out. If you’re in the area and craving Italian, this place is a must.

I had never been served RAW chicken before, until I came here. I ordered the special which was stuffed chicken- when I cut into it, I thought it had to be prosciutto because of the color- it was not. Had the calamari for an appetizer and it was thin fishy.

As someone who grew up in metuchen then left and came back to the area, I am lucky to have found this gem of a restaurant! The food is fresh and always super tasty, service and atmosphere are great as well. Tonight we had the Zucchini Balls with Fra Diavlo sauce which was amazing, also my go to is the shrimp scampi, my wife had the linguine clams in a white wine garlic sauce. Couldn’t recommend this place more, it’s the go to for any special occasion birthdays anniversaries etc! Give them some business you won’t be disapointed

Terrific BYOB in Metuchen. We visited with our family of 14. Jason (Owner) was more than accomodating, opening early for us. The food was outstanding and plentiful, service impeccible, ambiance was great. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Thank you for a great evening.

We have been to this restaurant several times with parties of 8 plus. The food is always excellent. We share appetizers and try each others dishes to plan or the next visit.
Portions are enough for a second helping the next day. It is BYOB which is another plus. This way we get more appetizers to enhance our dining experience. Our reservation times have been honored and the wait staff is great. The atmosphere is nice. If your looking for a grand dining room forget that because the food is the star. Highly recommended.
