Felt like I was eating in the diner on main Street in Andy Griffith. Breakfast was absolutely amazing from the grits to the sausage and bacon everything was good to the last bite.I think they even serve filtered cold water. This will definitely be one of my go to favorites for breakfast now on.

What a find! We were so thrilled to find this yummy Cafe. I had the roast beef and loaded potatoes. The roast beef melted in my mouth. It had to be the best I’ve ever had and that is high praise. My husband had the fish and fries. He said it was tender and expertly cooked. We shared the cinnamon roll. It was delicious. Yummy, yummy, yummy.
Stacey was an excellent server and took great care of us. It’s worth the trip.

We went two days in a row. First time just for peach cobbler and the next morning for breakfast. I was a little disappointed that the food didn’t seem very homemade, maybe frozen biscuits? But all in all it’s charming and decent.

This old school traditional country breakfast and lunch restaurant has been here since 1900. That says a lot. If you come in the mornings you will frequently see one on one business meetings and groups of people who have met here on the same day at the same table for years. It’s clean and the service is good. I have no doubt it will be here for years to come.

Now open for Dinner and yes we’ll worth the visit, homestyle cooking at it’s finest, hot fresh made to order and great tasting. Service was attentive and gracious. Took the whole family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Country Fried Steak added Mushrooms, Turnip Greens with Mashed and a fresh roll.

City Café is the oldest restaurant in Tennessee still in operation and has seen 14 owners over its 120 year history. This place serves a serious “fill you up” breakfast and I took advantage of the Bacon & 2 Eggs over medium, Toast, Sausage Gravy & Home fries. My granddaughter went with the HUGE plate hiding single pancake with chocolate chips, and the little one went with a plain old biscuit. Everything was delicious…service was great…and you can’t beat the price for the amount of food served.

First time visiting and eating at City Cafe was a little disappointing. I got the breakfast place with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and grits. The scrambled eggs are why my rating is a 3, from just looking at them they looked slimy and unappetizing. Upon eating them, they tasted like they were coated in some type of food oil or butter (my family loves butter, but this was terrible). The only way to eat the eggs was with a biscuit and sausage in the same bite. I did not finish the eggs, I’m just not sure what happened there. Everything else was ok, the grits were bland and and the biscuits looked like the same kind you get at the store but definitely not 5 stars.

This little unassuming cafe is such a fantastic spur of the moment find. As a lover of diners, the real test is a classic. The American Cheeseburger and fries. I walked in and sat, the server was so kind, despite it being a to go order.
To start, the pickles were a perfect crunch. The lettuce was a little soggy, but the rest of the burger was so good. I kind of expected it to be underwhelming by the look of it. I was proved wrong. It won’t knock your socks off, by any means, but if you want that nostalgia…get it. This is a true American Cheeseburger. No frills, nothing extra.
The fries left much to be desired, I would’ve loved some seasoning. Luckily, I got plenty at home. That burger itself, I’d definitely go back and get.
It’s a quiet atmosphere on a weekday, lots of older folk eating their breakfast or lunch. I’ve come to find out that most people are generally very nice and mind their business. It’s not a rowdy place. Excellent to bring a pair a headphones and eat in.

I was quite disappointed about this place. I walked in, and it was so charming and nostalgic. However, when I was finally seated, which the place was busy, I understood, but after my order was taken, I was pretty much left alone. My food and coffee were delivered and i was never checked on again. Never given a coffee refill, never “How is everything?”. When I checked out at the register, the gal who waited on me, THEN asked how everything was. I said I was disappointed about the visit and explained why. All she said was, “Oh, sorry” nonchalantly. The omelet was nothing special, but the biscuits were scrumptious. Not sure if I will give it another chance or not. Apparently, it must have been just me, as the place continued to be quite busy. So, maybe I didn’t mean much as a customer (I was by myself) because they have others. 🙁
