However, the Brisket and turkey were so dry and almost tasted the same. The Texas sausage was decent for a sausage . The star of the show was definitely the green beans and baked beans.
Brisket was dry and not a lot of flavor
Cole slaw was dry with no dressing, just like cabbage
Mac and cheese was good
Gross are good, but very very small portion.
Now the hush puppies oh hell yeah the best I have ever had .
Brisket chili that was good .
Over all food meh probably would only go back to get the hush puppies.
Service excellent happy people I like that .
Portion size comparison to price yeah no . If the food is that small it had better be off the chain this is not .
To be fair I spent 13 years down south and this is called city BbQ I should have known better. You want good city bbq hit the Northside find a food truck . Honestly doubt I’d go back .
Beautiful smoke rings and bark on the ribs and brisket, every single time. The smoked wings are insanity, tender and super flavorful. The tenders are top tier, perfectly cooked and seasoned. All the side options are worth a try, for sure. Never been disappointed by any of them. The Brisket Chili is super delicious, A phenomenal middle ground between barbecue and chili sauces, with tons of their brisket in it. I haven’t had hush puppies or corn pudding like that, since I visited my family in Mississippi.
Mark’s handmade Banana Pudding is a local treasure. Run, don’t walk to get some! And the peach cobbler is really something truly special. (Handmade real whipped cream…. yep, I know. And Yep, it is that good.) Both made totally from scratch, fresh daily. I couldn’t recommend either dessert, higher.
The employees are thoughtful, and beautifully kind, at this location. Super lucky that places like this are finding a home in my beloved hometown. I wish them nothing but success. Looking forward to my next visit.
20/10, no notes.
We chose to get the meat samplers. My son had brisket and 1/4 chicken with Mac and cheese and cornbread. I had brisket, turkey, and sausage with Mac and cheese and hush puppies (GET THESE!). The meat was well smoked and moist, I personally didn’t feel the need for any sauces with them. But, did get a few to try. My favorite being the sweet bbq sauce and their Carolina mustard sauce. The mustard sauce was perfect for the sausage. We will definitely have to stop again the next time we venture up from Indiana.
The staff is so friendly and accommodating, Kiliegh helped me this evening & was just fantastic.
The food is always sooo good, you can tell it’s freshly made everyday. All of the meat and side options and variety are fantastic. You better order the Ribs early too because they sell out daily! (Pro tip)
the vibe inside the restaurant is so rustic and cozy, it’s nice to smell the smoky bbq air when you walk in. Nice lighting, good vibes.
10/10 recommend this place to anyone around! It’s always worth it!
Ps. I also recommend checking out their catering option as well, so nice for work gatherings or lunches (and any other event) we have done through the store I manage!
Love City BBQ!
