TAKE THIS HOW YOU WILL! My 1st experience at City BBQ was not good ! We entered and instantly was pressured to start ordering ( we haven’t even read the menu yet !). Almost felt like we were an inconvenience to the guy taking our order. The food came out quickly but while we were waiting we were trying to find ONE clean table ( talk about impossible). Not a SINGLE clean table – it wasn’t even busy! I pulled out the baby wipes and wiped down a table just so I could sit and eat. While we were eating another couple came up to us and mentioned how it’s never clean in the restaurant and they usually do the same thing. I WORK IN FOOD SERVICE TOO … you don’t want a dirty area for your guests … this place has potential but someone needs to take leadership and make sure everything is stocked , tables are clean and guests feel welcomed! Not sure how this business is going to thrive. *im going to add photos *

Food was ok the pork was fatty today I got the lo lo pork meal with 2 sides. No malt vinger for the fries. The service was sucked and the girl at the register was rude. Seeing that I was digging for my card and after not finding it paying with cash she kept repeating the total which was not helpful. So gain some customer service and go out on the floor and clean your tables up. All the tables was dirty even the seats too. We go out to eat to not have to clean our own table up..this visit was just blah all the way around.

I travel a bit from South Carolina north and now have settled in Zanesville. I can’t remember having enjoyed a meal like they served today. I picked up a loaded potato and a root beer. Unbelievably delicious!!

Stopped here after running an errand in Newark. Ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich, Baked Beans and Fries. Pulled Pork was nice tasty, very moist. Beans had a nice bbq flavor to them. The fries were quite tasty BUT you get a big bad score when I had to use 5 ketchup bottles to get enough for my fries. Another words no one checked the dining room before you opened.

When I moved from Columbus to Pittsburgh in 2006, I called City Barbecue corporate and was assured that Pittsburgh was on their planning horizon and I just needed to be a little patient. Twenty years later, still waiting. I visit this location whenever I visit family in Pataskala, but I’m docking their score by two stars because I have to drive this far.

Good BBQ…
City Barbeque is always good. The store has a southern BBQ joint feel and atmosphere. Being a counter service restaurant limits your exposure to the service. The only issue is if you get there late, they are out of about everything. What they had left made a delicious pulled pork and sausage sandwich with baked beans. It is worthy of stopping by.
