This place is a gem — we stopped in on our way through town for some breakfast on a Friday morning and it was fantastic! They have a full bar with great cocktails and the food was AMAZING! The Chicken Fried Steak was delicious with the homemade gravy, and then we shared a yummy pancake too. Before we left we decided that we had the try a cup of the gumbo and it was super good — all of the flavors were there! Corina was behind the bar serving us to perfection and Gretchen (the owner; along with her husband) were an absolute delight! Love this place and next time you are in West Seattle you have to stop in and spend some time in this charming & lovely place. Cheers!

The location and atmosphere are excellent, busy yet tranquil for a Sunday brunch. I enjoyed a well-made Bloody Mary, though the garnish of okra from the owner’s garden was disappointingly only half a slice. Service was efficient but somewhat cold, with little interaction from the bartender. The country fried steak, unfortunately, was thin and dry. Overall, a pleasant setting, but the food and warmth of service did not match the promise.

I’ve been to Circa for both lunch and dinner. Service is always excellent food and drinks above average as well. Was there for lunch yesterday and enjoyed the 3-course menu for $27. The only disappointment was the Bloody Mary. It’s not particularly complex; just tastes like garlicky tomato juice. My business partner had one too and thought the same. Needs more seasoning.

BEST BREAKFAST in FOREVER!
The Homemade Sausage Gravy was AMAZING and topped the VERY BEST Chicken Fried Steak (& REAL STEAK) that I have ever had!

Dinner Rating 2 Stars; Breakfast Rating 4 Stars. Blueberry pancakes were decent, the homemade maple syrup was a cool touch and tasty. The biscuits are next level. Love the flavor and uniqueness of the dish. Service was mid both times I dined in. The gumbo has to be one of the worst dishes I’ve ever had.. and I was starving. Wedge salad was classic and delicious. Honestly the meatloaf situation was super funny to me, the chef burnt it and flipped it over to show the non burnt side and cover it up. It was gross but the veggies and mash were absolutely delicious. The banoffee pie was yummy! It’s a bit crowded in the restaurant. The decor is always super cute. I’d go again and still can say I like the restaurant.

We had such high hopes for this visit. I was genuinely looking forward to an old-fashioned meatloaf dinner. It’s a charming corner neighborhood café with what seems to be a very loyal following. The meatloaf plate itself was generous, and the meal was served promptly. However, the blue cheese salad was a bit underwhelming—small in portion and a few browning leaves. The mashed potatoes were unfortunately cold, and the green vegetable side was overly salted, to the point that it was inedible. The meatloaf itself was decent, but not memorable.
To the owner: Thank you for your thoughtful response. I’ve gone ahead and updated my review accordingly.

I’ve been coming to Circa Ale House for years, and it just keeps getting better. The staff is truly next level and deserves a special shout out. always attentive, funny, witty and genuinely caring. You can feel the warmth the moment you walk in. It’s the kind of place where everyone seems to know your name and the vibe is always upbeat. They’re always on top of everything and just make you feel genuinely welcome. They embody what makes Circa so special, they really complete the experience.
The food is consistently amazing, from the staples like the meatloaf to that evenings specials, and the special desserts are always worth saving room for. The music is always on point too, just the right mix to keep the energy perfect without being overwhelming. Always different but fun.
Circa is the goto cozy neighborhood joint. Whether you’re there for a meal, a drink, or just good company, you always leave happy.
Five stars, every single time.

This review limited to dessert!
And I have to add, they kill it. Often people inhale that stuff, run the supply out, and a casual patron misses out.
Their standby is a triple chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. It arrives piping hot, check the video, my camera could not capture the piping steam.
A few nights ago was a French Strawberry Custard Pie, maybe a tart, looked like a cross between pie, tart, and cake to me. Easier to eat with a spoon. Amazing!!
Portions lean towards the shareable, and over 1,000 calories by this man’s estimates (I have NO qualifications).

Very nice eatery in western Seattle. The decor, lighting and colors make this place feel inviting and homie. The food was delicious we ordered one of their specials which was the Carwfish Pie and vegetables, a Steelhead salad, and their chocolate tort for dessert. It was prepared with care and attention to detail, the fish cooked perfectly and their Crafish pie with the sauce it was so creamy and flaky very nicelydone. The flavors, presentation and the service made this a wonderful meal and chill experience. Our server Brie was great and the team in the restaurant work well together. We will be back when in town we highly recommend this location. Come and give them your business you will leave full and happy.
