For anyone else who doesn’t really understand why there seems to be a Mexican restaurant and a pub with pub food here: the pub part is seasonal and is open during the fall/winter/early spring season. Otherwise this is a Mexican restaurant with a bar/dance area attached.
Again, the food is great, but the place can be exceptionally loud, especially when there’s something going on in the bar area.
Nevertheless, would recommend.
Customer service was fabulous, thanks to Ray and Evan, brilliant service. Really friendly, COVID-19 aware and happy to answer any of our questions.
Now the food, Outstanding. Everything was perfectly seasoned and tasted beautiful. The presentation was mouth watering and I could not have been happier after my meal.
If you’re considering pubs and eateries in the area, choose this one. I will be!
We went to check out the new chicken restaurant inside Cinque Ports. Loved the previous Mexican food on offer and thought… we love some wings, so why not give this a go.
First things first, the pub itself is beautiful, stunning view and a good vibe inside. Only thing I’d say is… perhaps a wider selection of beers is needed to suit the market. The ones on offer were all pretty standard ‘usual suspects’ on tap. Guest taps are a must these days, not only to support local and Indy brewers, but to give a better range for customers. £7 for a basic beer is also a bit silly, remember Margate, you’re not London.
The food… we ordered wings, tenders, cheese bites and loaded fries. The fires were pretty decent, but everything else was absolutely smothered in grease and oil. We’re not a stranger to wings, and I totally understand this is fried food. However, the amount of grease from these tenders and wings was pretty gross.
The coating on the chicken is really unique, I’ve never had anything like this before. But I think that also plays into the issue, because it’s so breaded, it’s holding onto the oil a lot. The sauces were fresh and decent, and at least the chicken wasn’t from frozen!
Unfortunately, the rest of the day I felt quite unwell, leaving a nasty feeling about all of this experience. Without giving too much information… it’s not been pretty.
I can’t fault the service or staff, and the pub itself is really lovely. It’s just this grease issue… the oil is overpowering!
I’d avoid for food, until they sort out this issue.
