***If you’re able to access my review-history (truly unsure), you will see that I RARELY leave reviews good, or bad***—
however, this small local business deserves their flowers
I’ll start by saying, we eat out a TON; honestly an embarrassing amount due to my work schedule.
The first time we ate @ Cinder Bistro, I was so impressed that I immediately began telling friend & family of how amazing their food, service & homey, cozy environment was.
I have became so “burnt out” on eating out.
I actually began to despise my job, just because I blamed it for having to pay for & eat “wilkes county food” on almost a daily basis. We’ve been “long term regulars” at darn-near every restaurant in town at some point, or another, and they have all turned us off via cheaper-quality ingredients ❌, careless management/service ♂️, over-priced & under-portioned plates , etc.
I guess that’s why it was “love at first sight” with my Cinder Bistro experience.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted as family. When an employee (or owner) approaches you, they actually listen, and genuinely put forth effort to ensure you have a pleasant experience. The staff is attentive, personable, knowledgeable and more than capable of explaining their menu options.
When I recieved my first plate of genuine “Cinder Bistro gold “ (smoked-pulled-chicken ) I initially felt the portions looked slightly-smaller than I’d like. But soon after digging in, I realized it was an optical illusion most likely due to the dinnerware/etc used because I rarely leave a restaraunt with a full belly—but it was all I could do to clean my plate. And the food was FAR too good to waste
My next visit I tried the SMOKED BRISKET QUESADILLA and HOLY- that is a product of LOVE❤️ and pure culinary genius !
After 2 DIFFERENT amazing dishes, I couldn’t contain myself; I had to try a 3rd…. The deep FRIED FISH and it was probably the best piece of friend fish I’ve ever eaten… and I grew up with the old-southern style family that ate at fish camps every weekend my entire childhood
Plates will cost around $12-$17 per adult, with a reasonably priced kids menu.
GREAT SELECTION of local North Carolina craft craft beers, wide selection of bottles and mixed-drinks made to perfection
❄️ We visited during the snow storm(s) & they broke their backs coming together, to give people a place to eat because most were closed. It was chaotic and understaffed, but the food was still amazing
I’ve spent far too long writing this review, but I want this community to SWARM this place & EMBRACE them as a staple-restaurant, the way they have embraced my family upon each of our visits. These folks are building a business through love, dedication and knowledge and deserve to thrive & survive.
THANK YOU Cinder Bistro —
For being genuine folks that take pride in what they are doing and deserve my hard earned money. There’s no worse feeling than spending $50-$100 on a family meal, but leaving hungry/angry/disappointed … a feeling I had became far too familiar with in this town, until I discovered YOU ALL!!!!
The food is yummy. Portions are large prices are great. Will definitely be back!
Tried the platter with all the meats. Everything was great. And their fries are excellent too!
We wanted to try the wings but they weren’t ready. Hope to visit again to try them.
Only lost a star for atmosphere because it was quite smoke smelling. Had to drive with the windows down to get rid of the smell on the way back!
