Cinder Bistro, was super busy for this small town. Traveling through and wanted something off the beaten path that was good. The trio meat meal was picked by two of us but shared by 4. The trio should have just been one meat as that’s all we ate the pork. The brisket and pulled chicken lacked in several areas. The chicken just had an overall weird flavor and brisket had no flavor. Our wait time at 2p on Sunday was about 30 minutes outside but it was nice weather. The potato salad was just okay, nothing special. Baked beans tasted like canned pork and beans with a BBQ sauce. The staff was friendly and nice. The price for what we got as a trio meal was a little high for a small place and portions. The cheeseburger and desserts were good and enjoyed by another family member with no complaints. We will probably not return.

A honest & lengthy-detailed account of a recent local gem I discovered ♥️ :

***If you’re able to access my review-history (truly unsure), you will see that I RARELY leave reviews good, or bad***—
however, this small local business deserves their flowers

I’ll start by saying, we eat out a TON; honestly an embarrassing amount due to my work schedule.
The first time we ate @ Cinder Bistro, I was so impressed that I immediately began telling friend & family of how amazing their food, service & homey, cozy environment was.
I have became so “burnt out” on eating out.
I actually began to despise my job, just because I blamed it for having to pay for & eat “wilkes county food” on almost a daily basis. We’ve been “long term regulars” at darn-near every restaurant in town at some point, or another, and they have all turned us off via cheaper-quality ingredients ❌, careless management/service ‍♂️, over-priced & under-portioned plates , etc.
I guess that’s why it was “love at first sight” with my Cinder Bistro experience.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted as family. When an employee (or owner) approaches you, they actually listen, and genuinely put forth effort to ensure you have a pleasant experience. The staff is attentive, personable, knowledgeable and more than capable of explaining their menu options.
When I recieved my first plate of genuine “Cinder Bistro gold “ (smoked-pulled-chicken ) I initially felt the portions looked slightly-smaller than I’d like. But soon after digging in, I realized it was an optical illusion most likely due to the dinnerware/etc used because I rarely leave a restaraunt with a full belly—but it was all I could do to clean my plate. And the food was FAR too good to waste
My next visit I tried the SMOKED BRISKET QUESADILLA and HOLY- that is a product of LOVE❤️ and pure culinary genius !
After 2 DIFFERENT amazing dishes, I couldn’t contain myself; I had to try a 3rd…. The deep FRIED FISH and it was probably the best piece of friend fish I’ve ever eaten… and I grew up with the old-southern style family that ate at fish camps every weekend my entire childhood
Plates will cost around $12-$17 per adult, with a reasonably priced kids menu.
GREAT SELECTION of local North Carolina craft craft beers, wide selection of bottles and mixed-drinks made to perfection
❄️ We visited during the snow storm(s) & they broke their backs coming together, to give people a place to eat because most were closed. It was chaotic and understaffed, but the food was still amazing
I’ve spent far too long writing this review, but I want this community to SWARM this place & EMBRACE them as a staple-restaurant, the way they have embraced my family upon each of our visits. These folks are building a business through love, dedication and knowledge and deserve to thrive & survive.

THANK YOU Cinder Bistro —
For being genuine folks that take pride in what they are doing and deserve my hard earned money. There’s no worse feeling than spending $50-$100 on a family meal, but leaving hungry/angry/disappointed … a feeling I had became far too familiar with in this town, until I discovered YOU ALL!!!!

Stopped here on our way to Randleman NC, picked it off of Google and I am so glad I did! The place is so cute, love the look of it. Our waiter was Jeff and he was so nice and answered any questions we had! I got the wedge salad with a side of fried okra and Hushpuppies. It was the best wedge salad I’ve ever had in my life! Must have been the house made Blue cheese dressing! So good! My Husband got pulled pork and baked beans, all of it great! Hopefully we’ll get to come back sometime because it was fantastic!

Found this place on Google and wanted to give it a try. It’s wonderful incredible atmosphere. Smells incredible when you walk in! Had the best server probably ever, I am awful with names. He does theater in the mountains( if you see this)! He made the experience 10 times better incredible humor!

Loved our food here, especially the smash burger and the pulled pork. Delicious! Fried pickles were crispy and amazing! And the hush puppies too! Our service was excellent on a Saturday afternoon on 5/23/25. The girls took such good care of us with three dogs outside. Love the waitresses! Even the guy bringing out our food was so sweet to our dogs. We will definitely be back again! Loved the food! 5 stars! Thankyou for taking such good care of us after a 10 hour ride with 3 dogs from New Jersey on our way to Boomer NC! Great food, great service! Only thing, no bartender that afternoon and I needed a few cocktails after the long ride! That was the only sad part!

First place I have given 5 stars to in a while!! This restaurant served an amazing selection of barbecue, burgers, and even some fish options! The laid back atmosphere is suitable for large groups, with some outdoor seating available. I got the Angler Sammy, a cod sandwich with their fried pickles. The super friendly staff definitely made my experience even better. Would highly recommend! Gluten free bun available.

Wow! The reviews don’t lie about those collard greens. Probably the best I’ve had.
Tried the platter with all the meats. Everything was great. And their fries are excellent too!
We wanted to try the wings but they weren’t ready. Hope to visit again to try them.
Only lost a star for atmosphere because it was quite smoke smelling. Had to drive with the windows down to get rid of the smell on the way back!

Cinder Bistro was a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely superb. The Triple Dipper Appetizer was an amazing start, and the collard dip was fabulous, with perfectly seasoned tortilla chips. The Cattleman’s Wedge was unforgettable, with the brisket adding the perfect touch to the classic wedge. Brisket and pulled pork would satisfy any craving for smoked perfection. The hush puppies were so delicious, and I even used the leftover beer cheese from the Triple Dipper to dip them, which was a chef’s kiss! I finished off this memorable meal with one of the best banana pudding I’ve ever had. I’m not sure what kind of wafers they use, but they’re so much better than traditional. Our server, Jeff, provided the best service we’ve had in a restaurant since I can’t remember when. His suggestions and hospitality made our experience at Cinder Bistro exceptional. This establishment has definitely gained repeat customers.
