The chicken skins left much to be desired. They were cooked very hard. Some were burnt.

The ribs were good. I’d say about average.

The egg salad was under salted.

The sauces were good.

Overall. Less than average bbq for the area.

A great BBQ place in the heart of Petworth. We have ordered a little bit of everything that they offer. Wings, pork, chicken, shrimp, you name it. Don’t forget to try a variety of their sauces too! They have a great selection of wine, beer, and cocktails. So they are bound to have something that you want to pair with your BBQ. They have great daily specials but the normal prices for their menu items might seem a tad high especially when it comes to their alcohol. Their staff works hard to make sure you have a great time. The layout of the restaurant is straightforward with a bar in the middle and tables surrounding it. All things considered this is a great neighborhood BBQ spot.

Tell me where you can go to get outstanding BBQ, buy allocated bourbon by the bottle, watch games, smoke cigars on the patio on Saturday nights, and join their Wednesday whisky club? Our first visit to Cinder was a great experience. The owner and staff were welcoming. The Old Fashioned is reasonably priced and they use Sazerac. If you want a bottle of some great bourbons, look no further. As long as you buy some food, you’re good to go. If you like pork rinds. Then you can’t miss these… If you don’t like them, then you have to order them just to listen to them keep popping at the table for 5 minutes after they are served. Sunday means brisket day. Chopped, sliced, platter or sandwich, or even by the pound. Pulled pork was outstanding. The 12 yr old loved the Mac n Cheese, we loved the collards, and the sauces were great depending on your taste. If you aren’t sure, ask for a sample of all of them. Also, on Wed nights, they have a whiskey club night that is something you need to actually be a member of. If you don’t live in the Petworth area, it’s worth the journey and experience.

Get the wings, get the wings. One last time… Get the wings. The wings at cinder are some of the best in memory. They are smoked and then fried. They are fantastic. It’s hard for me to go past and not stop and get an order of the wings. The other food is great as well they had a specialty blueberry BBQ salmon sandwich when I went, it was also very good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The outdoor seating is great on nice days just be aware of birds in the trees above. Oh yeah, get the wings.

Our college soccer team (30+ players and coaches) was traveling home from D.C. and needed a hot, hearty meal for the long drive — Cinder BBQ came through in every possible way. The food was absolutely fantastic — generous portions, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor — and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating. They went out of their way to package and label every single meal individually, making it easy for the entire team to eat on the road.
Coordinating food for this many people is no small task, but Cinder BBQ made it seamless. Incredible food, friendly service, and genuine hospitality — highly recommend for anyone looking for top-notch BBQ and outstanding customer care!

Absolutely stellar barbecue experience! The smoky aroma hits you upon entering, setting the stage for your dining experience. Each bite was a symphony of flavors – tender meats, bold sauces, and a perfect char. The service was as impeccable as the ribs. It is also a bourbon enthusiasts paradise!

Couple of things … The slicing of the brisket was just a bit much (more like chunks than slices) and the dryness of the meat was quite noticeable. The secondary space for a side looked quite sad all empty, the overall price more than justified making it happy. The beans were ok, the mac and cheese was better. Would have tried the pulled pork but I was already out $30. The seasoning on the brisket was definitely notable, as were the sauces.

Called ahead to sit on the patio with our pup. Arrived and the host sat us outside and notified us it would be raining soon. (We actually did not realize so that was kind)

Ordered 2 pineapple ciders- sweet but good for when in the mood for 1 beverage.

Ordered 2 entrees of the brisket. The brisket was good but little dry. The sauces reminded us of Taco Bell… Texas and the hot one.

I enjoyed my potato salad and the vinegar coleslaw. The peach baked beans were not peachy? My pickles were not pickled… definitely still cucumbers and needed more time before serving.

Overall 3.5/5- I’d try it again!

The BBQ here is exceptional! You might think going to a BBQ spot would be all heavy meats but not the case here. The dish I had was their special grilled salmon burger with blueberry BBQ sauce, I cannot even begin to explain how delicious it was! As well as the smoked then fried wings. Probably the best wings in the city! They were also exceptionally hospitable in providing vegan options for a friend, and accommodating an 8 person walk-in party with little to no wait time. Just note the specials sell out quickly so I recommend going on the earlier side.

Had dinner with some friends. My pulled pork platter was good. The pork was juicy and flavorful, coleslaw was tasty. Collard greens were excellent. My friends enjoyed their food too. Service was good. My big gripe was that the table was super sticky and gross.
