We chose Cielo for our anniversary dinner based upon reviews in conjunction with our own positive impressions when driving by – especially at night. We were highly impressed by the classy appearance both outside as well as inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which included appetizers: shrimp cocktail, mushroom bisque and a shared wedge salad (all GF). For our entrees, my wife chose the sea bass which was delicious. I opted for the salmon which was noticeably thick and oh so fresh. For dessert, we chose the creme brulee and blueberry & peach cobbler. And we were delightfully surprised by the chocolate “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate drizzle on the edge of my wife’s crème brûlée plate! Although some entrees seem to be priced slightly above average, we felt it was worth the money, all things considered. Not to mention their restrooms are among the nicest you’ll see. Well done Cielo!

When you pay almost $40 for a burger you expect a proper burger. It’s not the $40, it’s what you expect that $40 to give you. A medium burger should be just that, not a hockey puck. I was dumb enough to tip on a takeout order thinking I would enjoy it at the beach. I ate half and had to throw it away. The fries, even worse, a huge glob of soft potato dripping in grease. Didn’t eat one fry. Terrible.

For the price point, this was a disappointing experience. The portion sizes are very small, which while I realize upscale Italian restaurants usually have smaller portions, the Rigatoni dish was about half a bowl of pasta (also kind of odd that they didn’t include or offer Parmesan). While a small detail, there was no complimentary bread before the entrees came out which I feel is unusual and frankly kind of cheap for an upscale Italian place to not include. The Caldeirada mostly tasted good, but I wish there was a bit more to it because it was not all that filling—I got one scallop in the whole thing and the one I got was overcooked/rubbery. $150 later and we left feeling disappointed and still hungry.
The one upside is that service was great, however. We sat at the bar and the drinks tasted good and the servers were attentive.

Went while on vacation and the food was marvelous. Between this and wickies lighthouse the food you can find around here is to die for ! The focaccia bread and artichoke oil you get at the table is warm and fresh, the appetizers are all plated beautifully and taste great, and the entrees of course are very flavorful and nice. They aren’t super heavy/carb based it’s definitely a little lighter / veggie and protein focus but that’s good for some people ! Not the place to go if you want a super carb heavy meat and potato type dinner I feel … and dessert ! Wow ! The flourless cake was fudgy and outstanding and paired with the cappuccino was the perfect end to dinner. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an upscale meal on the island . Great servers and atmosphere too

Best fine dining restaurant on Sanibel Island, in my humble opinion. Delicious and unique cocktail offerings. Extensive wine list. They always seem to have a great special either for app, main or both. I’ve never had anything less than a fantastic meal here and elite service. Have been coming to Sanibel for 15+ years and always try to make a night available to go here. We really miss the live piano though!

Our server Irma was great. Excellent service. The Chilean Seabass was one of the best prepared. Coming from a chef, I’d definitely come back.

We came here for dinner after a friend recommended it. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was flawless. The food was the issue, the portions are incredibly small. Entrees are the size of an appetizer at best, we had the rigatoni dish and the Caldierada and while delicious we ended up at another restaurant for dinner an hour later.

Excellent restaurant all around. Food, service and ambiance are all A-1. For appetizers I recommend the calamari fritti (completely different from what I had tried before) and the crispy ribs. As entrees we had the bone in grilled pork chop, seafood platter, the Bucatini al’Amatriciana and the meat balls for children. All were very tasteful and fresh. For dessert the apple and chocolate tart was delicious. Our waiter was very nice. helpful and knowledgeable. The lightning and the music were soft and inviting. Worth to come back.

Delicious dinner a few nights ago! We started with the wedge salad and each chose a different entree. My personal favorite was the 12oz Ribeye and the Chilean Sea Bass. The flavor of the ribeye was perfect! The buttery, flaky sea bass was close your eyes and savor good! Mmmm! Highly recommend!

The atmosphere is terrific. The 4 of us each ordered something different. The Caesar salad is unremarkable for 2 reasons: 1) They simply place stalks of romaine on a plate uncut, the white anchovies are not even close to white anchovies anywhere else as they are small like the regular ones. The dressing, unremarkable and the price crazy! My wife, whose birthday we were celebrating order the lobster dish. It was like witnessing a murder. They douse the lobster in a vodka sauce that robs you of the delicate taste for lobster. The Porcini entre was spot on, wonderful in fact. The seabass was sadly dry, and underwhelming. Finally, it is the worst veal marsala I’ve ever had and I’m 73 years old, so you do the math. I’ve had it often and in fine places. Out of the 4 of us, only 1 got a memorable meal. Will we go back? Probably not as there wasn’t a lot of OMG options on the menu.
Finally, our server while nice was over their head and had way too many tables, and the place wasn’t even busy. Sorry folks, we really wanted and hoped for a memorable experience, next time at a different place.
