Zesty Italian with casual vibe in the vibrant area near UM. Great service from Gabby, relatively quick kitchen given the number of patrons. Apps and entrees were yummy and good portions.
All around great experience, highly recommend. But get there early for first seating, or be prepared to wait for the next round as tables open up. Everyone’s having a good time so can get pretty noisy, but it’s fun happy noise!
Definitely worth waiting though!

While traveling through Montana, you might suddenly find yourself in Italy!
My family and I were passing through and looking for a place to enjoy a good dinner, and we decided on Ciao Mambo. We arrived about two hours before closing, the place was packed, many people were still waiting to be seated, and more kept coming in. We waited for a table for about 20 minutes.
Everything we ordered was simply incredibly delicious. I grew up in Italy, and I can confidently say this is genuine Italian cuisine! Silky, delicate sauces, perfectly cooked seafood, amazing garlic bread with Parmesan that paired beautifully with the tomato soup topped with mozzarella.
The staff was very friendly, and the waiters were attentive.
I absolutely recommend this place and would gladly return again!

Had an amazing father daughter date night at Ciao Mambo! We split the Tootsie Rolls appetizer, the lasagna, and the huckleberry cheesecake and still came home with full bellies and leftovers! The lasagna portions are huge, and it was one of the best I’ve had in years. Perfectly layered with rich, flavorful sauce that tasted homemade and authentic. Every bite was incredible. The Tootsie Rolls were deliciously cheesy and well seasoned. If you love cheese, you have to try these. The huckleberry cheesecake was the perfect finish to our meal. The local huckleberry flavor really made it special and unique to Montana.
Our server Kaleb was fantastic. Very attentive and made the whole experience even better. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and checked on us at just the right times without being intrusive. My 10 year old loved drawing on the paper table covering with crayons while we enjoyed our meal. It kept her entertained and happy, which made the whole evening relaxing for both of us. The artwork on the walls is impressive and adds character to the space. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and fun, with just the right energy for a family dinner.
The downtown Missoula location is convenient and the restaurant has a great vibe. We waited about 20 to 30 minutes to be seated, which was totally reasonable for a busy dinner spot. They text you when your table is ready, so you can walk around if you want. Great food, excellent service, generous portions, and a wonderful family dining experience. Highly recommend Ciao Mambo!

We were greeted right away by a friendly hostess and quoted a 25–30 minute wait, which was accurate. Once seated, it took a little while before our server came by—around 10–15 minutes—so by that point we were ready to order everything at once. Service throughout the meal was on the slower side, and our server didn’t seem too familiar with the wine list. We also had to ask a few times for plates and glasses to be cleared.

I’ve always really enjoyed this restaurant, but this visit didn’t quite live up to my past experiences. On a positive note, the bread is still as delicious as ever—though it did arrive after our appetizers this time. Hoping this was just an off night, because I’d love to have it back near the top of my list!

The food I would love to tell them Italian food has more flavor than just garlic from the bread to the pasta. I asked the server if there was a way to fix our table as it was horribly wobbly, which she fixed by climbing under the table and basically having her head in my husband’s lap after he had ask for the shim which was in her hand. So very uncomfortable. People who came in after us had their bread and salads before we had our bread and we arrived and ordered before them. Server spent a lot of time having a conversation with a costumer at another table. When she did ask how it was she walked away while I was putting my finger up so I could let her know that I had to spit out some of the grilled chicken that was over chard and could not be chewed and the shrimp was over cooked in the meal too. By this point we were over this place. so we packed up our stuff and paid and left. Oh did i mention this was our first time here and my husband’s birthday, which our serve was so invested in anything and everything else that she didn’t even notice the bright pin on him that said it was his birthday. Not saying to get anything special there but She could have said Happy birthday. Why the 2 stars those were for the busier and food runners. They were great. But Mary Ann not so much, or at least i think that was her name it was so loud i couldn’t hear easily and her name written in crayon was not readable.

Building is in a great location on a major street in town by the river.
The restaurant is nice looking and the seating is nice.
The waitress and host were good.
The taste of the food was enjoyable.
The service and timing of the food was as expected of a restaurant ordered off of the menu.
The price per plate compared to food portion is through the roof!
If you were to compare to an olive garden Italian restaurant my pasta and bread was pricey, but it tasted good.

Great food! Got a pizza and a penne alla vodka which were both really good and the garlic bread was amazing. Our server Michael was super attentive and made the night great.

This place of fantastic! I had Fettuccini a la barustica which is pasta with chicken and shrimp in white Parmesan sauce. Wife had Italian nachos. They seated us downstairs (party of 8). Service was fast, food excellent, and the ambience perfect. The bathrooms were clean and nice too.

It’s comfortable and interesting but not pretentious. If you can sit at the bar do so cuz you can watch the pizza makers (they also put the salads together) do their work. They toss those pizza rounds nine feet plus.

Request Corrynn as your server. Good drink and food navigator.

Lots of local fauna, so you know it’s a local spot. Many have the stank of former Californians but give Grace. We’re all strangers in a strange Land.

Bon appetit!!!

PARKING // parking is street parking only. There is no privatized lot. Good luck with finding parking it’s always a challenge in this area.

AMBIANCE // the Ambiance here is quaint, romantic and noisy. There are two seating sections one is elevated, no matter where you sit it can tend to get a little bit noisy but nothing outrageous.

FOOD // I’ve been here numerous times over the years. The food was always consistently good. However this last time the food arrived at our table barely warm. I believe I know what happened. My one colleague ordered pasta with shrimp and a white wine sauce. That came out scalding hot. My manicotti and my other colleagues ravioli came out barely warm. They weren’t staged properly. They were waiting to bring them out with the pasta, and they didn’t set them under the heat lamp therefore they got cold. The complimentary bread has always been outstanding and still continues to be. The drinks are average, not strong but not weak.

SERVICE // this is where this experience becomes interesting and unique. From the beginning the service was subpar at best. It was almost as if we were being ignored or overlooked intentionally. There were no refills on drinks. There was no inquiry how the entrees were. There was little to no follow-up. Very unique dining experience in and of itself. I have never experienced this and I have lived in major cities throughout the world. When it came time to conclude the experience. Ariana did ask if we wanted dessert. Myself and my colleague ordered a tiramisu. My colleague ordered one to go for her husband. She was charged for it, but it didn’t come out until she inquired about it and then a young man, the same one who refilled my drink upon my asking is the same one who delivered her to go item. I requested a manager. I was told very directly that there was not any manager on that night that I would have to speak with her. I inquired who the proprietor or the owner was and she told me the name “Matt” stating that, “You will never hear from him and he won’t call you back” she asked what the problem was and upon my explaining to her she became very argumentative cutting me off and interrupting me and speaking over me. She became extremely argumentative and unprofessional. She called me a liar. Telling me and my friends that we came in in a bad mood. Astoundingly we all looked at each other, as this was not possible. We were there for a celebration. Ariana continued to argue with us that she did come to the table and ask how things were, none of us recollect that whatsoever. At the conclusion of the evening, her unprofessionalism, unattentiveness and overall poor decorum has resulted in this review, a letter to someone named “Gabby” and a very unpleasant taste in our mouth for this small business. Which is extremely unfortunate because I really did love this place and I really did want to continue to frequent it.
