I grew up in Austin and only went to Chuy’s maybe once. Maybe it’s because they don’t have outside seating? I know, it makes no sense. All I remembered was their crack ranch sauce or something. Anyway, this year changed all that. I opened my heart to Chuy’s and never looked back. I appreciate that they offer several delicious vegetarian options that you can basically make however you like. The combo of rice and different sauces and beans is phenomenal.

This was my first time to eat at a Chuy’s. I’ve heard a lot about them. I live in Abilene, Tx and we are getting one. Turns out this is their FIRST location. The place has tons of character. It was a super busy Saturday night during football season. We rode our motorcycles to the place which was nuts at 9PM!!!
The steak and green chili burrito was the BEST burrito I have ever had in my life. The flavor was amazing. Our waitress was excellent and visited a little with us. All four of us had fantastic meals and totally worth the 30 minute wait. You will not regret a meal at Chuy’s!!!

We’ve been fans of Chuy’s for quite awhile, so finally making it to the original location was pretty exciting.
At this location, the food was great.
Service was lacking, but the atmosphere and food made up for it.
Would recommend to visiting this location to any Chuy’s fan, or anyone who enjoys good Tex-mex in general.

This is an amazing place. It’s the original Chuy’s location that has been there since 1982! There’s a bunch of different dining rooms plus outdoor tables and a bar area. The staff are great and very friendly and helpful. Prices are not unreasonable and the food is very good. All in all it was a very good experience for my first time eating tex/mex food.

Where it really shines is the staff, who are kind, energetic, and most attentive. No attitude, just smiles!
This place is well-run. The food is good, and so are the prices. I had a mixed combo with the green spicy sauce.
I shall definitely return—and I think along the Barton Springs strip, this is among the best.

This 50’s inspired, Elvis loving TexMex restaurant was fantastic. The food was excellent. Special shout out for the jalapeño ranch sauce that was amazing and addicting. Would return.

The food is extremely tasty. Massive quantities and low prices. Don’t expect much from the atmosphere, it’s local diner standard at best. The service was pretty good too. If you’re looking for a good Mexican meal, this is the place

Had the Elvis memorial combo here this week and the experience was amazing! Everything tasted so good I just had to eat the whole (substantial) two plate extravaganza.

Seattle tourist here! Went with a local because it’s a good spot to get your generic Tex Mex fix while in Austin but not much else.
The Margarita with a Tajin rim was amazing. The Queso Compuesto dip was pretty addicting. I dont know why I got the taquitos but they were forgettable (I didn’t even take a pic).
The server was lovely and helpful with their house sauces recommendation. I just wanted a hot sauce but they don’t have that

Dined at the bar, initial service took a little while to get moving, but it picked up significantly after that. The bar has a great vibe with plenty of regulars, and the banter between them and the staff makes for a fun atmosphere.
Most importantly: the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered to go yesterday and the meal was just as good—consistency for the win! It’s rare to find a spot that hits the mark both in-person and for takeout.
