To start, we ordered the garlic naan, which was perfectly fluffy and fragrant, with just the right amount of garlic and butter. It paired beautifully with the chicken tikka masala, which featured tender chunks of chicken bathed in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce. The flavors were robust and well-balanced, making it a highlight of the meal.
The chicken breast dish was also well-cooked, juicy, and paired with a mild sauce that complemented its natural flavors. The lamb chops were another standout: they were succulent and had a nice char, with a marinade that brought out deep, savory notes.
The biryani was aromatic, with fluffy rice and well-spiced seasoning. Each bite had a nice blend of herbs and tender meat. The beef dish was flavorful, though it could have used a bit more seasoning to elevate it further.
A lovely touch was the complimentary milk tea, which was soothing and well-prepared, offering a nice, sweet finish to the meal.
In summary, while the food at Chutney Restaurant was enjoyable and showcased some really tasty dishes, there’s definitely potential for refinement and improvement. I’m excited to see how they evolve and enhance their offerings in the future.
I went once in 2015 and enjoyed it so I vowed to return again.
I did return in April 2025, and I must admit I was disappointed.
The seekh kabab was dry. The chicken leg and thigh was dry. Two dishes where you’d expect to be moist/tender but they were far from it.
The butter chicken lacked punch although the chicken itself was okay. The biryani lacked flavor; it was very plain.
The naan was good however. Made fresh. And the magaz masala was just okay.
To top it all off, the desi tea they give for free had no milk in it. Tasted like flavored water.
They were however, busy so they must be doing something right. And they have been in business for a number of years. Maybe I just went on a bad day.
I will say, the atmosphere isn’t the best, but the employees treat you well the food makes it all up to you. I will absolutely be a repeat customer. 5/5.
I had curry goat, hubby had chicken marsala and we shared the meat stuffed naan.
