Welcome to the Chute! We are proud to be the Black Hills Original Honky Tonk and Restaurant. Let’s get one thing straight, we are here to offer everyone a good time, great service and raise a little hell. We aren’t politically correct, we aren’t handing out participation ribbons and we definitely aren’t walking on eggshells ‘round here. We ask for forgiveness, not permission. We don’t talk politics, we don’t talk religion and we follow the golden rule. That’s it, its simple. Drinks and food were all great. Maddie is a blast and the night we were there, there were some rude people (see other reviews) that made false accusations about the length of time they waited and she took it in stride. Also if you want to try a new shot, try the “Salty Balls”. We also had bloody Marys, the PB&Bree, the chute beer, prime rib, burgers, French dip, Mac and cheese bites, steak appetizer, and a few other things and honestly it was all outstanding.

What an amazing restaurant! I absolutely loved the food. The appetizer and main course were amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely come back the next time we are in town. I highly recommend this restaurant to others. Thank you so very much.

We decided to try Chute Rooster partially because of it’s closeness to our hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly. My husband decided to try the Mile of Hell wing challenge…we’ve been married almost 24 years and known each other for 27. Never once had I seen him find something that was too hot to handle. He loves spicy food. He knew he was in trouble when they delivered the wings wearing latex gloves…with a pair for him to wear while eating them. He only managed 3 before giving up. All of the staff were very helpful, offering milk, coffee, celery…anything that might put out the fire. He had a miserable night and a rough day and will probably never try something like that again. So fair warning…the wings are not an easy challenge! (He did say that they had a good flavor…just the heat was unreal.)

If you want amazing food/drinks or friendly fun customer service I’d recommend eating here. Susan was our waitress and she was friendly and made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. Even though they were short handed they did amazing and the food/drinks were perfect. If you are a cocktail drinker I’d recommend the Key West Blast, in my opinion it tastes like being in Hawaii or having an adult tropical punch. Plus they brand all the burger and sandwich buns so you have a nice presentation when the food comes. I will stop back in when I am in the area for their amazing smothered green chili burger.

Everything was fantastic! Our server Susan gave the best drink recommendations and her service was top notch. The food was delicious and obviously home cooked. I highly recommend the pork sandwich! Very glad that we only live about 20 miles away as we plan to come back often.

Over Sturgis second weekend, we were looking for something besides burgers and fries and this place was AWESOME!! Chislic was excellent. The kids all loved their meals. Burgers, wings, BBQ all rated EXCELLENT. Waiter was very nice and did well considering he was newer. The perfect ending to an excellent meal was THE CANDIED BACON CHEESECAKE. Good lord we could have all demolished an entire cheesecake alone!! Thanks for the excellent dining experience! On the list for next time!!

Be prepared to wait to get a table and your order. 45 minutes, 1 hour respectively. The food was fantastic, service solid. No AC and not a lot of air/fan movement made the place hot and sweaty. Also, the Mile of Hell sauce should not to be taken lightly. I grow my own peppers and make my own reaper and ghost pepper sauces. I offer this as a basline. In moderation, I can eat them with ease. The Mile of Hell WILL make you suffer through the night and morning hours. It’s awesome. Also get the house special called the “Billy Jack” it’s a fantastic and original combo! Would recommend this on your stop!

Definitely great food. Need to pay more attention to the details. I ordered blackened salmon…..it was great salmon, but definitely not blackened. My friend ordered medium prime rib and it came out well. Still delicious. But if they want perfect reviews it’s these details that matter because the food is definitely good! And they have live music. Our waitress was great!!!! I’ll definitely go back!

The outdoor space to explore while you wait for your table is great – campfire sitting area, bar style tables and stools, old buildings and western decor, it’s all really cute and well done. If it was cooler outside they have deck heaters they could turn on. We waited 25 minutes for a table when we showed up about 7:30pm. We were able to get drinks though and walk around to enjoy the view. Our app – cheese curds – was piping hot and delicious! The prime rib sandwich that I got was pretty good but the Philly cheese steak that my friend got was even better – the green chili is a great addition. They have a few dishes with green chili which I love from my time spent in New Mexico. I will definitely be back – loved the atmosphere and the service was very good especially considering how busy they were. All the servers had great attitudes.

This place makes food from scratch so don’t expect a high speed experience. This is where you go to unwind, enjoy great food and a full bar all in a historic building adorned tastefully with antiques and Edison decor. Live music some evenings. Event rooms of various sizes on site. I had a shaved prime rib sandwich with homemade in-house green chili and cheese sauce on top with an order of chicken wings that came with an amazing sauce.. My food was fantastic and I realized that I spent about the same amount of money that I would at corporate chain restaurants serving food that is not anywhere near as good as this. The attractive and attentive wait staff will make you feel welcome and the bartenders know they’re drinks here. Their recent reviews are five star. There’s a bunch of bad reviews from a long time ago hurting their rating. This suggests that management and or ownership changed. This was a unique experience and atmosphere accompanied by some of the best food in the Black Hills. They have a huge parking lot that can accommodate trailers.
