The Truth
As a former Church’s employee I was extremely disappointed with the service of this place. The off smell that was in the place is understandable because it’s the fault of the owner; they need to stay on top of cleaning the sewage to avoid the smell. BUT the quality of the chicken is on the management. We got chicken that was already boxed, open, to be given to the dogs or the trash which was not even warm. If I was in charge I would’ve said, “sorry we’re closed” or “let me make you fresh chicken” not given out old, cold and over-fried chicken. Not worth it. There is a store manual that specifically details quality control that every employee should know and use to run a good restaurant. This place needs a management overhaul.

Despite my ratings this chicken place has been around for a long time and every once in awhile I get to craving Churches Chicken. Some folks go to McDonald’s cuz they went there as children i go to Churches cuz that’s where I was taken as a child. This particular location was slow but they were short on staff but that didn’t discourage me from waiting for my 2piece mix chicken with honey biscuit and Dr Pepper soda.

Absolutely great service the lady who took my order was very sweet and was on it. I asked for plates because we are vacationing and didn’t bring extras and she reminded me about forks for our mashed potatoes which completely slipped my mind. The location is also perfect right by the Guadalupe River! We will be back.

If there was a “half star” it would be closer to my choice! Two pieces of chicken, (greasy breasts). and a wing, and a thigh.. 2 mashed potatoes. That’s all. Hit debit card for $18.36! Really?!?! Will NOT choose this again!!

Got a 10 piece with fries and okra tonight. The okra and fries were ice cold and very old. The chicken was definitely old and dry and barely warm. We spent 30 plus dollars and wasn’t even able to enjoy it.Wont be going back.

Back to the same unsatisfactory service and food quality. I ordered the 24 tenders with 3 large classic sides and tea. The order clerk was trying to do two things at once, so I had to repeat my request a couple of times. I ordered an additional family sized fries. I asked if there was plenty of cream gravy and was assured there were three small containers equivalent to a large. For the sides, I ordered cole slaw, jalapeño bombers (not a classic side, add .50), and fried okra. The fries were cold, no okra, and two of the gravies looked like they had been sitting in a warmer all day and the third one looked like milk. The packaged sweet tea was not very good. The tenders were okay, but Church’s changed the batter recipe and there is an unpleasant aromatic spice. I will not order from this Church’s again. It seems like if I do go back I should just tell them to choose whatever $50 will get me and I won’t be disappointed that I didn’t get what I ordered. Does this happen to everybody? It feels like it happens almost every time I go.

I went through the drive through a few days ago and asked if they made certain sandwich that I thought I had ordered from a Church’s in the past. Well Courden, forgive me if I misspelled his name, wasn’t sure what the sandwich was but instead of just saying no, he offered to make something similar. Gave me bread options as well as the type of chicken. So friendly and seemed to really want to make sure I was happy. Great customer service is so hard to find these days in fast food, much less the drive thru. Give that man a raise!!!
