I’ve been coming to Churchill Arms Pub in Folsom for years, mostly for the Guinness and the fish and chips. If that’s your priority, the pub might still appeal — I 100% came for the Guinness, and for a long time, that was enough to overlook the “okay” food and average service.
But over time, it became clear that everything else is subpar. The food is mediocre at best, the service inconsistent, and the atmosphere is dominated by repeat drinkers who can get unpleasant. One bartender — I can’t recall his name, but he’s been there forever — likes to lecture everyone on how to pour a Guinness. Ironically, he’s one of the worst Guinness pours I’ve ever had.
The breaking point? When it felt like staff were trying to cheat us out of our hard-earned money. That’s when it all clicked — the food, the beer, the place, the service — none of it is worth it. Location aside, it’s really just a hangout for regulars who aren’t particularly welcoming, and the overall experience is disappointing.
I liked it okay in the past for the Guinness and the convenience, but now? I will never go back. I work hard for my money and will happily spend it somewhere that respects its customers, serves better food, and doesn’t rely solely on a single beer to keep people coming. Churchill Arms had its time, but for me, it’s done.
Churchill Arms Pub is a classic, cozy neighborhood spot known for its warm atmosphere and traditional pub vibe. The menu offers a solid selection of hearty pub favorites like fish and chips, burgers, and hearty sandwiches, along with a good variety of beers on tap. Customers often praise the friendly staff and lively environment, making it a great place to hang out with friends or watch sports. The decor has a charming British pub feel, adding to the overall experience. It’s a reliable choice for casual dining with good food and drinks in a welcoming setting.
I want to say thank you for making this a great experience for her, y’all are really the best!
First, the front door was left open so we had a bunch of flies buzzing around the table. For an “English pub” they didn’t know what a Shandy was. Had a long wait for the food to arrive only to be disappointed. They forgot to bring the soup. The portions were all different. And the chips were almost black from being fried in old dirty oil. Very disappointed, so much that we went to McDonald’s right afterwards to get that dirty oil taste out of our mouths.
