I liked it. It’s across the street from Dalessandro’s. Dalessandro’s has lines 40 deep outside the place. Chubby’s has no lines. I know this about a cheese steak – the bread matters. The bread at Chubby’s is on point. The sandwich was solid. Melted white American.
It also has a full bar on the inside – which was unexpected and cool.
I’ve never eaten at the place across the street. I don’t know if it was worth the wait those people waited. My sandwich did not disappoint. So I’m not feeling bad about not waiting in line with 40 other folks

There was no flavor. The meat had zero seasoning. The portion was good. I got fried onions, Peppers, lettuce, Mayo, tomato & cheese. I only taste the condiments the meat was bland. $20 I should be able to have at least some salt/ pepper on the meat at minimum.

Here it is!! Went across the street for the steak. Came here for the fry!!! Amazing . They were the best fries I have had in a while. Fried hard, yet not burned. The right amount of salt and love that the cheese comes on the side. Perfect…next time I will be getting my steak here. To do a full review.
Update: I came back!! Yea, they are it. This round had a chicken cheese steak hoagie which was great. Chicken was not over cooked. Fries, omg I dont know what the heck they do to their fries but amazing. Onion ring cooked perfect and thw dipping sauce is saucy..yummy. The atmosphere remindes me of your local deli where they know their customers personally. Great, place to munch.

I tried the place across the street and I wasn’t impressed even a little bit.
Work brought me up this way again so I decided to give Chubby’s a try. I love the name of the place, I liked the atmosphere outside and inside, and most importantly I was very satisfied with the size, quality, and taste of the American Wit.
The roll is packed with tender chopped steak. I tried to keep it all in the roll but the meat was bursting out, no worries because Chubby’s serves their cheesesteaks with a fork because they know some of the contents of the roll are going to fall on to the plate.
I had an unexpected good chuckle when I read the signs they have posted in the very clean bathroom.
To top it off every employee I talked to was very nice. I stopped and let a women working behind the counter know how much better I thought they were compared to the competition that’s across the street and she graciously took my compliments but didn’t bash their neighbor, she’s a classy winner.
Thank you Chubby’s for the overall great experience and for the fully “chubby” belly I drove home to Jersey with.

At Chubby’s Steak in Philadelphia, I had my first meal as a tourist, and it was a delightful experience. Initially, I intended to dine across the street, but the lack of dine-in options and long wait times led me to choose Chubby’s instead. The service was excellent; despite being a tourist in a place popular with locals, the staff was incredibly welcoming and understanding of different dining preferences. They were accommodating about the portion sizes, offering sharing plates and allowing us to divide a single portion among several people, which was greatly appreciated. The friendly and inclusive service made me feel right at home. I’m grateful for the experience and definitely plan to return when I visit Philadelphia again. Thank you, Chubby’s Steak!

Found this place after deciding not to wait an hour for a cheesesteak across the street and was pleasantly surprised. Service was great and the bathroom was clean. The restaurant itself has definitely seen some better days with most of the booths looking rundown and worn. The real standouts are the cheap beers and food. Personally, I’m not crazy about seeded rolls, but my cheesesteak was flavorful and expertly cooked with Cooper Sharp and accompanied with cheese fries and gravy. Chubby’s is definitely a good alternative if you want to save money and enjoy tasty food.

Chubby’s is the spot for good and fast food with a cold beer on the side. Nice atmosphere,very chill and service is great. There is a parking lot that holds about 8 cars and street parking in the neighborhood, next door to a gas station and across the street from delassondros. Nice spot for a quick lunch with your boo.

Ordered a pizza steak it was the worst. The roll was not toasted and they put all my toppings on the bottom including the raw onions how do you get the full flavor of a raw onion when it’s on the bottom of hot food? The pizza State didn’t even have a good taste I’ve eaten Pizza steaks for years at less expensive restaurants and it tasted much much better than this.
