As soon as I sat down, I was welcomed by a very gentlemanly server named Jayden. He was extremely warm, friendly, and genuinely happy to chat with me. Since it was my first time visiting, I was a little unsure at first, but he made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed — no pressure at all.
The food was absolutely delicious. The ingredients looked just as fresh as they did in the pictures — you can immediately tell the quality from the presentation alone. Everything tasted amazing.
I especially want to praise Jayden again for making this such a wonderful dining experience. He truly made my first meal in Los Angeles a memorable one. I will definitely be coming back!
The service was fantastic — Vicky C and Betty were helpful attentive, and friendly. It also wasn’t very busy during lunch, which made the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
The lunch deal is an amazing value for what you get. Great food, great service, and great pricing — we’ll definitely be back!
All of the meats we got to try were delicious and I believe it’s due to their slogan of never frozen. Everything is fresh. The seafood particularly was really nice. The razor clams and the concubine clams were sweet and could have been eaten raw. We liked how the sauce and condiment bar had a great spread and there’s even a suggested recipe to make the house sauce.
We ended up going with a half and half soup broth consisting of the lobster broth and the bone marrow broth. Honestly, for both my wife and I, we didn’t care much for the hot pot broth. They weren’t very flavorful on their own and most of food items needed to be sauced after boiling. For what they are charging for each broth we didn’t find the hot pot to be that worth it as compared to the grilling portion.
Because of the lack of flavor of the hot pot broths, we ended up grilling all the meats and it was so good. The nice cuts of meats all did well on their own on the grill, but the Chubby Mart dry seasoning was king. It went exceptionally well with everything, the meats, or the veggies, all were made better with the dry seasoning. It’s honestly like crack. The seafood porridge took a long time to come out to the table, but it was worth it. It was a perfect yummy combination of crab in shell and octopus. It was perfect to top off all the red meats and right before dessert. They had this unique dessert I had never seen before. It was tapioca pearls with water chestnut inside the balls. It was like eating frog eggs as I would imagine. Kind of hard to get into with your teeth, but once you’re inside, it explodes in your mouth. Very fun dessert.
All in all it was a fun dining experience. Although we weren’t a fan of the hot pot, we will return to eat the grilled meats. The Chubby club of restaurants is taking over and I’m excited to see what they come up with next.
My server Jayden was very good. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knew the menu well and proactive without feeling intrusive, which elevated the overall dining experience. Price was around $40–50 per person. For the quality of food, fresh ingredients, and nice atmosphere, I think the price is fair.
If you want hot pot with good service and a nice vibe, this place is a good choice. I will come back again! 🙂
