I happened to drive by Chris’s Midtown Cafe in Chadbourn this morning and saw they were open. I had a little time, so I turned around and went back. Glad I did.
Ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and it was excellent. The bread was fluffy and fresh, the bacon was thick and substantial — not that thin little pancake-house bacon — and the egg was cooked perfectly. Everything came together just right.
You can definitely put them on your radar for a quick breakfast stop.
Pro tip: call ahead and they’ll have it ready when you get there.”

The café also includes a coffee and bakery section called *The Sweet Spot*, where they’re planning to add even more treats in the coming weeks. I’m already looking forward to stopping back by to see what’s new.
Beyond sweets, the café offers a full menu of savory, home-style favorites, including fried pork chops and a hot bar serving hearty, home-cooked meals. I went with the cheeseburger topped with their homemade chili, and it was perfection — exactly how a burger should be: juicy, flavorful, and downright delicious.
