This is the worst Chinese takeout I have ever had. We got rangoons, orange chicken, kung pao chicken, and Mongolian beef. None were good. The beef tasted like gross old beef, was super fatty and thick for some reason. The orange chicken literally tasted like fake orange. It was nasty. I didn’t try the kung pao because it’s not my fav but my husband hated it. Oh, and the rangoons didn’t come with sauce and were mediocre at best. We spent $60 with tax and I didn’t even want to eat the food. And we had been drinking so our bar was very low to begin with. Will never order here again.

Ordering here made me so sad. I got the House special lo mein as well as the homemade dumplings.
The lo mein was about what I expected however some of the meat was very dry. When I see House special I realize that it’s a little of everything thrown in. I was willing to let the dry bits of meat slide and try to enjoy it. I ordered a large but the portion I got wasn’t what I was expecting. It was not bad.
I also ordered what was called homemade dumplings. For 14 dollars I got 6 cooked from frozen pot stickers with the plastic packet of soy sauce stuck to the top. The edges were stiff like cooked from frozen pot stickers I have had in the past. I was very disappointed I had bought these.

Typical Chinese takeout spot with subpar food.
Recently stumbled Upton this place while getting an ice cream nearby. From the outside, it looked okay, but the food overall was below that of standard Chinese takeout joints.
The meat dishes, specifically the Spicy Salt & Pepper Pork Chop and Chicken Wings, were quite disappointing. Both appeared to be made from frozen meats, which resulted in a dry and unappetizing texture. The wings were particularly underwhelming, with brittle bones chopped at awkward angles. Its sharp edges and small bone fragments made it challenging to eat, and I ended up throwing out half of it.
The rice dishes, the Beef Fried Rice and the House Special Fried Rice, were also mediocre at best. The rice texture in both dishes seemed off, likely due to the use of undercooked frozen rice, and the flavors were lackluster.
Thankfully, some of their other protein dishes like the Egg Foo Young Shrimp and Mapo Tofu were decent. The Egg Foo Young, though not particularly fluffy, was somewhat redeemed by a savory Chinese gravy sauce.
While Chow N Joy may suffice for a quick, no-frills Chinese meal, I would recommend going to Zoe’s nearby for a more quality Chinese food.

I think it’s very unprofessional for a delivery driver to ask for more of a tip just because it’s a holiday (New Years). He said we are busy and he got mad over the tip I gave. On a regular day this wouldn’t happen. Food was a bit cold tonight too but I expected it to be. Please tell your delivery driver never ask for more money like that to a customer. Thats how you lose business.

If you want a quick bite then its a good restuarant to order from. I give the quality of food and presentation an average score. They make the food pretty quick and have a good and attentive staff. There is good parking space near the restaurant . Chow and joy is located along somerville Avenue and its in same lot as

The flavor of your food isn’t bad at all but CLEAN YOUR CHICKEN WINGS!!! Just because they are fried doesn’t mean the hair can’t be seen that is so nasty I ordered chicken and got fried feathers !! Nasty!!! Like I’m so mad.
Lmaoo today they canceled my order cause they couldn’t guarantee no feathers so means they don’t clean their food in 2023 so nasty. And inconsiderate. You go in hours before your shop opens to prep and clean your food stop being lazy!

I ordered takeout to be fair, but the chicken was very stringy and overdone (I ordered a chicken entree and appetizer), the rice was bland, and the sauce for the chicken was flavorless yet felt like it was loaded with sugar and salt. I would not recommend this to anyone, and there are far better options in the area.

I ordered pork fry rice and pork with string beans for take out when I got home . Only few pork and majority of rice and beans can be seen. SO, I called the restaurant to confront the issue, instead of saying sorry that’s our mistake he was like this how WE SERVE. Dude there’s barely any pork at all. I paid $50 not for just rice and beans but the pork that comes in the order .I am very disappointed with take out order unexpected scam for dish for late night ordered. I don’t think I will be going back. Everybody make sure you get your order with proper amount of meat or any order dish with the item with the right amount of meat if it has combinations of veggies as well, IF NOT THEY SCAM YOU FOR MORE VEGGIES AND VERY LESS MEAT OR NO MEAT AT ALL. FIRST RESTURANT THAT SCAMMED ME TO PAY THE PORK DISH WITH NO PORK FOR THE AMOUNT I HAD TO PAY. Make sure you get what you paid FOR SO THAT YOU DONT BE scammed. just a heads up.
