The food is to die for!!! Exceptional!!! I’ve been coming here many times, tried everything, and all of the dishes exceed my expectations! I’m a marine chef so my expectation of quality healthy food is very high. Trust me when I say it’s delicious And the drinks are full of flavor, easy on the ice and generous on alcohol. Definitely worth the $ and mind you the portions are double to what you are used to! The flan and the cheesecake are an absolute must too! I had lamb and veggies for dinner, and lamb soup and it was beyond what I’d hoped for! Yummy
I felt so welcomed and comfortable, place is clean and the bar is always full of people.
Tonight is a Sunday and there’s a dance ! Open to everyone, Afro beats and R&B. This just became my favorite place

I go to Choukouya all the time and thought it was a great idea to host my birthday dinner there. I called two weeks before the date to confirm if they could accommodate our party of 22 people and Shay confirmed they could. I called the Thursday before my event and was told again that they could accommodate us and that they were looking forward to seeing us. The day of the event (two days later), my husband and I get there 20 mins early and we were greeted with “oh you guys showed up?” When we inquired what the server meant she stated that the owners bet we weren’t coming and directed staff to not prepare for our party.

Well, sure enough all members of our party showed up and tables were not ready. We did not have glassware or full silverware for everyone, but instead we were given paper cups and members of our party had to use plasticware to eat. Throughout the evening the server came back and took drink orders, but did not make our drinks because the food was “coming out faster” than she expected. Several people in our party did not get their main entrées or their entire order. Mind you, we had one server for over 20 people AND she was also the server for the entire restaurant.

The manager/owner was there but “didn’t have time” to assist her or even come over to the table to speak to us about the disarray that was happening even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Instead, he offered four bottles of wine which was nice but that didn’t make up for the fact that people didn’t get their food or drinks (this includes basic soda orders). The peek of the evening was that when we all got our bills the server forgot to remove her not so professional nicknames from our checks to remember us.

Though the server was kind and it wasn’t her fault, it really put a dapper on my view of this restaurant and I am very disappointed. In total our party brought in close to and probably over $800 and we weren’t taken seriously especially given it was the first time some of my party had been there. The worse part is that another restaurant was ready for us and we could have gone there but I chose Choukouya and I am sad to say that I regret it

The food was disappointing. we didn’t even take our leftovers home it lacked depth in the flavor and was just ok compared to other places we’ve had. The service was great the staff were very friendly however the food was just not enjoyable… the hot sauce was okay, it is quite spicy but I doused my food in it to add flavor. It was like the other food though, it lacked any depth in flavor, it was just hot and that was all, no tang no saltiness or funky anything you might get from other hot sauces. The chicken was so so the vegetables were also so so everything could use more flavor. We were pretty disappointed in this one I feel they have the potential to be good but the food just isn’t there yet.

Fantastic food, warm service, and a cozy vibe. Every dish was flavorful and well-presented. The staff made us feel welcome from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back!”Absolutely loved this place. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere made it perfect for a relaxed night out.”

The food taste so delicious and so different from what I’m used to that I was frustrated I couldn’t order more on the menu. But the servings were so generous that I couldn’t fit another bite and took home quite a bit. My husband gobbled it up the next morning, before I got a chance to get to it. If you love succulent lamb, I’ve never better!

Food was absolutely amazing, so much flavor and truly authentic cuisine. There was also a wide variety to choose from. I will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

great vibes and service! i loved the fufu sampler (the collards were to die for) and ponme lyonnaise. the jollof rice was incredible. my friends tried a few other dishes which were all great as well (lamb stew, pepper stew, and 2 chicken dishes) the vegan pie was the only thing i disliked; it was a bit sour for my liking. if you want plantain fufu, you should call ahead as they need ample time to make it. we went on a friday night and the music was quite loud so we were yelling a bit to hear eachother but the dance floor was lively so we couldn’t be mad! food is a bit slow to arrive but worth the wait!

First experience with this restaurant. Had to try the FUFU sampler. I highly recommend the Shrimp Platter, they were done to perfection, very flavorful. The watermelon celery sauce was the best with the FUFU, which was WHITE YAM POTATO but FUFU also comes in plantain, couscous; you roll into a ball and dip in the sauce. I definitely will return to try more from the menu.

This restaurant made me sick. As a vegan I got food poisoning & I talked to the owner about it. I told him that I found shells in my eggusi soup when the lady told me it was 100% vegan. The owner tried to tell me that I put the shells in there. And he tried to put the blame on me when it was his restaurant that made me sick and gave me food poisoning. I was sick for almost 2 days. He had no resolution at all. He had no empathy or anything. He just kept saying that they cook vegan food separately. That customer service is terrible. If a customer comes to you with an issue like I had, you should handle it and the customer with ample amount of care. I don’t recommend. And it’s honestly the principle of the fact. I will never be eating from here again. There is no professionalism here from this situation. They literally gave me food poisoning and basically told me to suck it up that it’s my fault. 0/10.

It was empty except for our group, so no atmosphere on a Wednesday. The server’s voice was very quiet, so hard to hear over our noisy group. I had the lamb stew, which was excellent, but could have been spicier; I like hot food. Definitely worth a return visit.
