I have noticed that in the far West end of Park St, Hartford there’s always been a seafood place.
After coming to Hartford for many many years, I noticed the most recent seafaring food was in that very same district. The Chosen 1 is a restaurant,very much alive and bustling.
I pulled into the parking lot just west of the place with plenty of parking. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and noticed it was not too busy at all.
I was immediately greeted by a gentleman who brought me to a booth and quickly got me some water. After looking at the menu, I knew I wanted something not to overfilling, but a good representation of the restaurant. I quickly spotted the fish and chips on the menu, under $20, and ordered it with sweet potato fries. Within a few minutes the hot colorful platter of fish and chips was set down before me.
I asked the waiter for tartar sauce, and he gave me three or four different selections. The sauce really made the meal.
Since it was not so busy I enjoyed some conversation with the owner and the waiter and I agreed to come back soon for another fulfilling meal.
When you’re coming up Park Street right near the end just look to the right for the neon sign.
You cannot go wrong stopping at The Chosen One for a wonderful seafaring meal and great company.

Best seafood restaurant. The shovel feeds so much people, a bit expensive bit its so worth it. It is seafood after all, I dont know if they still have it. But bring your own marker and you can draw your name, or something cute on the wall. The service is absolutely out of this world, fast sitting and loving friendly people to take your order’s 10/10 recommend.

My family and I have been ordering from Chosen One Seafood every holiday for the past few years. We always go for the “Shovel,” their most expensive seafood bag, so we know what it’s supposed to look like.
This time around, I went in with a birthday coupon they had just emailed me a few days before. When I tried to use it, they told me they no longer use that system. Even after I showed them the email, they still refused to honor it. No apology, no effort to make it right.
I ordered a create-your-own bag with snow crab, corn, eggs, potatoes, and sausage — and thankfully, everything was in there. But my mom ordered the Atlantic bag, which is supposed to come with two pounds of crab legs. What she got were four broken pieces. When we brought it to their attention, they tried to argue with us, even after looking at the bag. After going back and forth for five minutes, the owner finally took the bag back and fixed it.
This isn’t the first time we’ve had issues with takeout from here.
It feels like something is always missing or off.
After being loyal customers for years, we’re disappointed and won’t be returning.
The food is good, but the service and inconsistency just aren’t worth it anymore.

Awesome seafood boil place!! Stopped on a suggestion from chat gpt for good seafood and it didn’t disappoint! Incredible flavor and unique vibes. Madeline was a great server and attentive to my requests. Would go again.

Staff was friendly and very helpful in selecting the food. Place was clean and had good vibe! Server was very efficient and food was served very fast. We tired the fires which was spicy and tasty. Additionally, the bar has been removed, and the signature “shovel” dish is no longer served in its unique presentation. The seafood lacked the fresh flavor we’ve enjoyed on previous visits.
I remain hopeful that the other locations maintain their standards, but this will likely be our last visit to the Hartford location.

On the way to plan B burger to grab some late night snacks we saw this restaurant and it caught our attention.
It was Friday 10pm and was not crowded at all. We were seated right away and the server was at our table within minutes. The menu is simple and straight forward. We ended up going with fried calamari for apps and shrimp+mussel combo in a bag as main dish. It was simply amazing. It was my first experience eating seafood out of plastic bag and I would love to go back for some more. The seasoning was right on point, and there was plenty of food to share for 2 people. I will definitely be back for more soon.

My 1st visit here was today & it was nothing short but A Great Time.The food was Great & who ever made my drink knew what he or she was doing. My server was my Guy Alex. Super polite well spoken.
