I’m quite impressed to say that I received a call from the owner of Chops today. This was no simple task since my name wasn’t on the reservation. The owner, Stacie, not only apologized for the issues but offered a full refund. That’s some pretty incredible customer service. The lesson learned is that if you have an issue or are dissatisfied while you are there, just ask for the owner and Stacie will fix it.
I’m leaving my original review up simply to help others avoid the issue I had. I’m confident that my next Chops review will be 5 stars!

I have eaten at Chops many, many times over the years, from business dinners to times with friends and family. When I was asked where we should go with friends recently, I didn’t hesitate to say Chops. Unfortunately, after our recent visit, I will probably not recommend or go there again.
I always order one of two things when we go there because I have an allium allergy that they have always been able to accommodate. This time, they said they could, but they brought my plate out with a third of the meal missing and no substitutions.
They told me they couldn’t even make a plain baked potato. That was really odd for us, since they have always, without hesitation, been able to do that in the past. I might have been able to understand if it was busy, but it was definitely not.
To make matters worse, my steak came out overcooked. Also a first. By the time they replaced it for me, everyone at my table had finished eating, so I just boxed mine up.
I was surprised when the bill came and there was no adjustment to acknowledge the issues. Full price for a subpar evening.
I’m not sure if they have new owners, new management, new staff, or what, but things have changed. I would even say the cut of meat was not as good as it used to be.
I will give kudos to the bar, however, since they can still make a killer dirty martini.
The clam chowder soup, crab cakes, steak & dessert were all good. They brought out the dessert to celebrate our anniversary which was a nice surprise.
I was really grossed out by how dirty the ceiling tiles and vents were. I took pictures – so gross! I’d expect better in the front of a restaurant so it made me think the kitchen might be really bad.
We went here because we had a gift card to use. Can’t say we’ll be back anytime soon.
My $32 porkchop was a touch dry and overdone, pork is hard to cook so that I can deal with, but it was desperately under-seasoned as well. Even with the demi glaze they served it was alright at best, tasted more of char than anything else.
Although my wife’s steak was underdone (requested medium rare and it was red throughout), it still had great texture, very moist and tender. But once again, very underseasoned and the sauce wasn’t quite to my taste, not that that’s their fault.
On the other hand, the soup, salad and starter we got were very good. The bisque had great flavor, the Caesar salad was dressed well, and the walleye was still moist and flakey.
We didn’t have a bad experience overall, but the best part of the meal was definitely the side dishes where the entrees, especially for the price, should have been the stars of the show. We’ve visited twice now and had an okay experience both times, but we probably won’t be back for a third.
