Chongqing Noodle is a great place to have a quick, satisfying meal. And unlike a certain San Francisco full restaurant that pretends Chongqing flavor, this one is for real.

I first had signature braised beef noodles, a traditional Sichuan dish half year ago. It was delicious! Then, I brought my daughter to this place. After her recent visit to Chongqing, she recommended Chongqing Noodle pea ground pork noodles, and ordered shredded eel with pickled pepper noodle. The flavor was nice although I could use more soup in soup noodles. As a taste test, we had to order spicy sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce. It tasted great.

The small and comfortable restaurant is family owned. Simple furniture is sufficient. Decor is minimal. When you see owner’s friends and other regulars in the dining hall, you know this place is for real. How real? Its Chinese name is “Elder Female Cousin’s Chongqing Noodle”. Elder female cousin, or 表姐, is a very Chongqing slang to signify “I’ll take care of you.”

This is authentic Chongqing food with a unique flavor from southwestern China. If you’re into trying different types of Chinese cuisine, it’s definitely worth a visit.

The service was friendly and fast. They could accomodate non spicy option for my kid. These noodles are more like dry noodle (only has small soup at the bottom). They were authentic Chongqing dry noodle with its signature spicy soup. The portion was generous.

– A1 Chongqing noodle pea ground pork noodles (non spicy): the thin noodle was cooked perfectly (still a bit firm & had chew). The ground pork was very flavorful & tasted like authentic Chongqing flavor (had lot of earthy spices). When I mixed the pea with the noodle, it gave creamy texture to the whole dish. If I ate this for myself, I would ordered the spicy version but my kid loved the non spicy one.
– A6 Chongqing dry noodle with ground pork: simple and delicious authentic spicy dry noodle. The noodle was firm yet chewy. The spicy sauce had good spiciness (didn’t me sweat but my tongue definitely tasted the burn). The ground pork was flavorful and they gave generous portion of it.

One of the best noodle spots in the east bay. Friendly and fast service and willing to accommodate preferences even of its not on the menu. Noodles are fresh and delicious and they offer varying levels of spice. Will definitely be back to try more dishes!

UPDATE 11/24 – came back a few more times after my initial review and this place continues to be a local favorite. Food is not very oily unlike most local spots. Only gripe would be that wontons are on the smaller side but flavors are light and delicious. Will keep coming back.

It tastes average. Please do not order extra spicy. (大辣) Not only is it spicier than you can imagine, it’s just spicy flavor, there is no savory.
But 碗杂面 is good, better than 重庆小面。

Solid spot for some Chongqing style food. Everything I’ve had so far has been very fresh, quite flavourful, and generously portioned with reasonable prices. The ground pork dry noodles are my personal go-to favourite. As typical of Chongqing style food, the spice level really hits nicely! Service is polite and fairly quick. The restaurant is pretty well kept and clean as well. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

I’m not from Chong Qing in China so I can’t say about the authenticity of noodles, but I love it lol
