We stopped in for dinner. No wait time for a table. Husband ordered a frozen margarita, which he said was nothing special. I ordered Pollo Santiago. The chicken was good, but a little dry. The rice and veggies were delicious. My husband ordered Shrimp Brochetas. He said the shrimp was good, but slightly overcooked. The tortilla soup was okay. We may give it another try in hopes things improve, or at least order something different to try.

We had an outstanding experience at Chivo’s! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of great energy. The food was absolutely phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.
A special shout-out to Gema, who made our visit exceptional. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her service added so much to our overall experience.
If you’re looking for great food, great service, and a place that truly makes you feel welcomed, Chivo’s is the spot. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

The place was really cute, especially the patio area. No wait time for a table which was very nice. It was a little different from any other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. The music was traditional oldies from the 40’s and 50’s (Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.) I love that kind of music, but it didn’t really go with the theme of the restaurant. When it came to the service, I would say it was mid. Our server was all over the place and didn’t check in very often, which got a bit frustrating at times. The food honestly wasn’t my favorite. They kept the chips coming and replaced which was nice, BUT the chips weren’t all that impressive. They lacked any kind of salt or flavor. The guacamole was kind of weird as well. It had a bit of spice to it that you don’t typically expect to have in your guacamole. The place has great potential, but for now I would have to say the place wouldn’t be my first choice.

Chivos Mexican Bistro & Cantina is a vibrant spot in Mandeville, Louisiana, known for its commitment to quality and the art of Mexican cooking. This bistro takes pride in using only fresh ingredients, ensuring that their Mexican cuisine is more than just the typical rice and beans.
The menu at Chivos is full of flavor, offering a variety of options including street tacos, fajitas, and seafood enchiladas. Patrons have praised the food for being tasty, fresh, and consistent. The service is excellent, fast, and great, complemented by a friendly and attentive staff.
When it comes to drinks, Chivos doesn’t disappoint. Their margaritas, particularly the mango and top shelf varieties, are noted for being flavored, strong, and good. The tap beer is excellent.
Excellent sides: burrito and quesadilla (see photos)
Tasty, sizzling fajitas were served (see photo)

I am first of all very disappointed in myself for not asking our server’s name so I could give him proper recognition here. I will call today to find out though. Now let me say this place had an energy that caught me as I drove past it on my way to my destination. Upon heading home nobody wanted to choose where or what we are, of course.
I went with my heart & pulled into this quaint place I had never been to or heard of. Boy am I glad we did. Our server greeted us at the door & allowed us to choose our seat. Even though my Spanish is rusty he did not mind my misunderstanding. From there on we were continuously impressed by the atmosphere, team work & amount of Hispanics that walked in while we were there. That’s how I knew we were in for a treat! My daughter got the chicken quesadilla with rice and beans, my wife got the avocado wrap, and I got the ribeye fries. Each & every bite we took was tasty & flavorful. Our service continued to be outstanding throughout our experience & we appreciated the variety of items on the menu. I can’t say enough about how happy we all were driving home. We WILL definitely be back when we visit Mandeville & I hope my servers soccer team gets to the World Cup! Go Guatemala ⚽️

Great place for Mexican! It has all the right elements for a nice spot. Our server was extremely attentive, food was fast and fresh and the dining area was small and loud but comfortable. 2 people lunch special with extra gringo tacos to go, bill before tip was $40.49

I stepped into Chivos Mexican Restaurant seeking a convenient takeout option for my family, I stumbled upon their enticing daily special: Chicken Fajita. Atmosphere is perfect for both casual gatherings and family outings.
The Chicken Fajita, their highlighted daily special, exceeded our expectations. Not only did my family love it, but the portion size was generous, ensuring everyone had their fill. The price was reasonable, offering exceptional value for the quality and quantity of food provided.
As I awaited the preparation of our order, I couldn’t resist indulging in one of their draft beers. The accompanying fresh chips and salsa added an extra touch to the experience.
The service at Chivos Mexican Restaurant was excellent. The staff was friendly, and swift in handling orders.
For sports enthusiasts, Chivos offers a haven with numerous TVs, making it an ideal spot to catch up on games while enjoying a meal or a drink.
Highly recommended!

Juan was amazing! Once he realized my husband and I were trying to practice our Spanish, he quickly switched to only speaking Spanish so we could practice easily. He was incredibly friendly, fast, and professional. Absolutely awesome service! Would come back just to have him as our waiter.

So I was traveling for work and I came in a few weeks ago and placed a large order. The person who took my order didn’t really help much once it got busy — they just stood around while everyone else was trying to get things done. The manager looked really busy trying to keep everything running, so it was clear they couldn’t step in to help right away. It just felt a little unorganized, and I could tell the rest of the team was doing their best, but the person at the register should’ve been more involved in helping out. It would help if the dude was not staring at his phone so much either.
