Merry Christmas to all!
So… this Christmas Eve we wanted to have a dinner that reminded is of back in the day Colombia dinner.
We ordered a Lechona and man I was so excited to get my grub on. This was the biggest fail ever. This thing I honestly can’t find anything good about it.
The food:
The skin it’s self was not cleaned right it needed a good shave they didn’t even burn of the hair properly. When it came the rice is was mush. No texture to it , it was pudding. The seasoning was so strong it made you nose burn. Cumin is a major part of a lechona not all of it! We could not eat it no even my brother in law that it’s it all
I’ll tell you that at least the homeless ate it. Even rhat I felt a little bad doing.
Picture is the perfect example of looks can be deceiving
Gave 2 stars because empanadas while we waited were good. Should have took a hint when it was all empty.

Looking for a casual place with lunch specials in Miami Lakes. Cute, basic, clean Columbian fast food stop. Tables & take out counter with waitress service. Small menu with daily specials in the $10-13 range. I ordered a nice platter with pork cutlet, soup, fried bananas & rice for $10. Good, friendly service from the bilingual server. SUPER!

CHIVAS EXPRESS IN MIAMI LAKES
Today I bought Arepa de Huevo, among other food products, to my surprise the Arepa de Huevo wasn’t good, and I approach the manager of the restaurant explaining to her why the Arepa de Huevo wasn’t good, and I will gladly explain how should be done to her or to the cook (in a very calm and polite manner).
Her response was: I don’t want to hear anything, the cook will not learn anything from you, we are here to survive and we do what we do, and we don’t have any Barranquilleros or Costeños here.
It was very discriminatory, for me coming from Barranquilla and being part of the Miami Lakes community for more than 20 years, I never experience such treatment from any business establishment in Florida or the country.
Look like she doesn’t want to improve the food product, really bad customer service on her part.
To the owner: I will gladly to meet with you and discuss it. Just reply to this message with the date, time, and location.

I went here looking for a McDonalds alternative and found a Columbian restaurant in the shopping center. Chivas seems to be more for local clients and has a smaller setting inside. The restaurant serves churrasco. I ordered the frijoles rojo and the maduros with 2 diet coke. The menu is attached and the prices are very good. The service was quick and the waitresses were friendly. I do recommend

Went to this place instead of going to the McDonald’s near by. My family and I ordered a paisa. Let me tell you , that paisa made our stomach sick. I don’t know what it was my guess was the beans , we all got sick. I even had to go to the hospital since my stomach got so bad with pain. The Chicharon was very dry. Was expecting more from this plate but the sausage was the only decent thing oh, and the drink which it was basically a pineapple soda. Service could of been better.

Modongo soup was pretty good. Very clean place, they have products from Colombia such as quipitos.

Went there at lunch a while back and they had nothing except for one dish, and the portions were so small and the steak was paper thin. You would think they were rationing after a war or something. It was also bland and tasteless. And they also try to charge you more than the actual costs.
This is not representative of colombian food or culture at all and it makes us look bad. Da pena.

Great great food. Way better than the Palacios place next door. This is like homemade food. And in neither Colombian or Cuban lol. But I do love Colombian food.

We’re in town after evacuating from Hurricane Milton. We popped in here to expose our kids to some new food and they LOVED it! The woman helped us pick out a bunch of different things to try, made sure we liked the food, brought out extras, etc. We ate all the food before I thought to snap pics, but we devoured it. My son’s favorite was the sausage that had some bits of potato in it as well as the chicharron. My daughter’s favorite was the cheese empanada. We had a loaded empanada that had eggs, pork, chorizo, and some other stuff. Outstanding. Potatoes were good too! Give it a try!
