Went here for a last minute dinner date. They mostly serve breakfast but I ordered the surf and turf burrito. It was phenomenal! Meat and shrimp cooked perfectly! Their onion rings were crunchy and tasty! The woman who helped us was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be returning for breakfast next time.

This spot is a little gem for Mexican. Prices are decent and service is good. Home-y style diner restaurant. Been here a few times now, a new local favorite for us. Delicious – straight to the point food.

. I ordered the variety plate. Two types of Central American sausages and a marinated grilled steak. Along with two rags, black beans, and plantains. I got a side of avocado as well. My Mexican style coffee was smoother and rich. The household management ordered waffles with eggs and bacon. The eggs were defiantly free range. We don’t really care but the flavor was excellent.
The two types of sausages were nicely seasoned. There was some spiciness to them. The steak marinade was top notch. The variety sampler would feed a teenaged quite well.
The restaurant is well maintained and very clean. My mother and aunt would approve. We were there on a weekday lunch/ breakfast so we were served quickly and professionally. The waitstaff said it it can get pretty busy on weekends. We talked to several other customers. All were return customers.
The menu had three basic versions. Standard ‘American Food’ with potatoes. There was a Mexican Food page. Finally a Central American page with such things a Guatemalan food such as mentioned with plantains
The drinks had the usual San Diego American soda, Mexican Cokes, plus Jamiaca and etc. There looks to be a decent selection of beers. The dinner entrees look appealing too. O was really hungry so I focused on the food.
The people are friendly with plenty of parking etc.
I plan to return. They have Menudo, Burris, snd Pozole on the menu so I gotta try the other pages. The American page will satisfy the Wisconsin die hards.
I didn’t see any pescado but u was so hungry I was just looking forward to my food. I’m not a frijoles negro fan so I’m gonna see about substituting pinto. Look I was kind of raised on it. There’s plenty of interesting variety all over the menu and it’s just over the hill from me.
I am going to add this place to my visitors list. I have a few places with outside eating and pure tourist comida Mexicana. Adding Central America to the cultural tour of San Diego will be really good. Having visitors from the east coast and Midwest explore all of the food options along with the other culture possibilities is fun.

Absolutely DELICIOUS, went here with my husband, I don’t normally write reviews but this place was too good! Nachos were such a huge portion, the beans were delicious! I ordered their chorizo skillet and that chorizo had a beautiful caramelized flavor! Fajita veggies were soft and flavorful, and my favorite part was their hot salsa! Perfect heat and flavor mix.
First time here and we were blown away, we will be back and so happy that such a great little spot has opened in our community!!!

Okay, so I’ve been keeping this place to myself, but ya gotta know this place is legit. The chicken skillet is probably my favorite, and you NEED to have the Cafe’ de Olla; its perfection

I had the Chiroy Combination (churrasco, longaniza, chorizo, beans, eggs, and fried plantain) – basically a Guatemalan breakfast feast – and it was absolutely delicious! Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to start the morning. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty and authentic breakfast.

Not many customers at 10AM, between breakfast and lunch times. Got a pitcher of Mexican coffee, which has a great taste of cinnamon. I tried adding cream and sugar but it tasted better just as served. I ordered the “create your own” breakfast which includes 4 items from a list, plus tortillas. They never brought the tortillas but I was quite full with what I ate. The Longanza is a mild sausage similar to chorizo but not spicy. The grilled chicken was fantastic, the eggs were scrambled with a perfect blend of scallions, tomato, and jalapeno. The fried plantain was the perfect texture, served with a drizzle of (garlic?) sauce. YUM! Service was fast and friendly, parking is easy.
UPDATE:
I’ve been there a few times since my initial review. Everything is always good. Service is always fast and friendly.

This place is such a great find for breakfast — and they also serve lunch ! There’s plenty of parking and seating, with a clean, spacious dining area and a nice bar setup. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there was no wait when we came on a Saturday morning. I really enjoyed their café de olla and the wide variety of breakfast options. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. We had the mixed omelet with two side options, red potatoes and tortillas, as well as the breakfast combo. Everything was delicious and satisfying. We left happy and definitely plan to come back. If you’re in the area, give this place a try — it’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

My son had build your own breakfast. It was delicious he said plus had some to take home. I ordered the asada burrito combo. Carne was tough and chewy, but the guacamole and beans were good. Rice was tasteless . Was disappointed because it said 4.9 star rating. And wasn’t worth the price. Our server was sweet and attentive.
