I write this review not for the sake of hoping this location will get their act together, hire more people, and actually serve correct (consistent) proportions, that are safe to eat and not a health violation. If anything was going to change with this place it would’ve happened by now after the numerous 1 star reviews left by other people. But nothing has changed clearly. The poor mismanagement of this location will run this business into the ground and deservedly so. I write this review for prospective customers who will hopefully see my review amongst the other low ratings and avoid this place like the plague….unless ice cold, unsafe food, horribly inconsistent proportions, slow wait times, and poor management is your thing….if that is your thing you’ll be in heaven here.
I recently visited the Chipotle Mexican Grill location at6301 W Parmer Ln, Austin, TX 78729 on June 25, 2024 and ordered the Plant Powered Bowl, which is supposed to be a vegan and vegetarian option. As a vegetarian, I trust that restaurants respect dietary preferences and ensure there is no cross-contamination or inclusion of non-vegetarian items in vegetarian meals.
However, upon returning home and starting to eat my meal, I was shocked and disappointed to find pieces of non-vegetarian items mixed in with my bowl. This not only violates my dietary restrictions but also causes significant distress and frustration. I have attached images of the bowl clearly showing the non-vegetarian pieces, along with my receipt for reference.
I immediately contacted the restaurant to report the issue and request a resolution. While I appreciate the offer of a refund/replacement, this incident has shaken my trust in the food handling practices at this location. I urge Chipotle to implement stricter quality control measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. It’s crucial for customers to feel confident that their dietary choices are respected and adhered to, especially when it comes to meals labeled as vegetarian or vegan.
Pros:
Quick service
Fresh ingredients
Cons:
Inadequate quality control
Risk of cross-contamination with non-vegetarian items in vegetarian meals
I hope Chipotle takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary changes to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
It seems like only a handful of newer employees genuinely care about the customers. The difference between them and the rest of the staff is night and day.
I’ve had multiple encounters with rude and unprofessional service:
– I asked for a smaller portion of corn, and the server not only plopped a massive scoop into my bowl but then passive-aggressively said, “Sorry. Anything else?” I was so taken aback I had to ask her to repeat herself.
– Another employee threw my receipt into the bag and walked away without even handing me my food.
– I was once served a smaller portion because an employee assumed I wouldn’t want more food just because I am a woman.
– On a separate occasion, an employee handled my food with bare hands.
Beyond the poor service, the food is often cold, and the utensil station is almost always dirty.
I understand the challenges of working in a busy, understaffed restaurant, especially one like this. However, how much longer are customers expected to tolerate such consistently bad service for an overpriced bowl of rice and beans?
At this point, I only come here because it’s the closest option to grab a quick lunch and get back to work. But every time I walk through the door, I find myself holding my breath, wondering which employee’s bad attitude I’ll have to face.
This Chipotle has been an aberration for the franchise since it’s opening well over a decade ago. Literally since it’s opening, I have never, and I mean never, received a burrito that had meat which was trimmed properly. From day, one I’ve had to spit out anywhere from 50 to 100% of the steak from a steak burrito. The steak always had gristle and fat in it. The chicken on multiple times had bones in it. I literally broke a tooth on one of the bones from the chicken.
With that history, I am happy to report that I received a quality steak burrito on Thursday (03/20/2025), and then another quality steak burrito today (03/22/2025). Raised my review from one star to two stars overall, and every time I get a quality meal, I will continue to raise my review rating.
It’s been over a decade, during which time the owner and managers seemed to only care about saving money on the meat versus providing a safe quality food experience. I do not know what has changed, who changed it, who to give credit to, but I sincerely hope this is the future of this location. Props to the food preparers, to the manager that oversaw it, and hopefully to an owner that might actually finally care about the right priorities.
I look forward to many more steak burritos, and continue to hope for a good dining experience from the Chipotle Parmer / McNeil location.

Unfortunately they reverted to form today, and I had to spit out six pieces of meat that were gristle and fat from a steak burrito. Disgusting.

Visited at 10 PM tonight and happy to report that once again I received a Steak burrito made perfectly! Most importantly, the steak was cut and trimmed properly. I did not have to spit out one single piece of meat. This is three visits in a row with three perfectly made burritos after over a decade of consistently poorly cut steak / chicken.

Steak burrito made perfectly. Most importantly, the steak was cut and trimmed properly. I did not have to spit out one single piece of meat. This is the first, and only steak burrito I’ve received from this location in over a decade that I was able to eat the whole state steak burrito.

Had to spit out six pieces of steak on one single burrito due to fat and gristle. Food here continues to be disgusting. Same issue that it’s been for years, literally since the restaurant launched. They refuse to properly trim meat at this location leaving fat and gristle in the steak, and an occasional bone in the chicken.
The owner obviously does not care at all about customers, or making money. I would eat here three times a week if the food was decent. In the years since opening I try it every few months to see if there’s been an improvement, and there never is.
Today was no different. Fed the first five pieces of gristle and fat to the dogs, before I decided to take a picture. This was probably the grossest burrito I’ve had at this location.

Multiple bones were in my chicken bowl. One of them was the size of a dime, and I broke my tooth on it. It was $2800 to have a crown put in place of my broken tooth. Chipotle offered me nothing for the damage that was done. Nobody offered any type of compensation. Corporate called me and documented it. That was it. Picture provided with a receipt from the date of service along with the bones that I bit down on with full force resulting in a broken tooth.
