I am writing to formally report a deeply disturbing and unacceptable experience I had at the Chipotle Mexican Grill located at 6040 Gurnee Mills Blvd E, Gurnee, Illinois on February 12, 2026, at approximately 12:26 PM.
I entered the restaurant to order three tacos and politely explained that I only wanted one taco prepared immediately because I take my lunch later in the day. I respectfully requested that the remaining ingredients be placed in separate containers so the food would stay fresh and not become soggy when reheated. This was a simple and reasonable request, and I clearly stated that I was willing to pay for any additional portions if necessary.
Although one employee initially acknowledged my request, another employee quickly became visibly irritated and dismissive. When I calmly repeated my request, she responded in a rude and condescending tone, implying that I would not want to pay. She then began speaking negatively in Spanish to coworkers, seemingly unaware that I could understand what was being said. Being talked about in this manner, directly in front of me, was humiliating, disrespectful, and deeply hurtful.
When I asked for her name in an effort to address the situation appropriately, she escalated the interaction by raising her voice and yelling across the counter. At no point was there an attempt to treat me with dignity or basic customer courtesy.
Most concerning of all, the general manager, Rylee Oakes, was present and fully aware of the situation yet failed to intervene, de-escalate, or provide any meaningful assistance. Instead of demonstrating leadership or professionalism, I was told to “just take the food” and was made to feel as though I was the problem. This complete lack of accountability and empathy from management was shocking and unacceptable.
As a loyal Chipotle customer who frequents multiple locations and spends well over $80 per week, I left this restaurant feeling racially profiled, unwelcome, and profoundly disrespected. No customer—regardless of background—should ever experience treatment that feels discriminatory, dismissive, or degrading. Conduct like this is not only contrary to basic standards of customer service, it is incompatible with the values any modern business must uphold to earn and keep public trust.
Customers like myself are the reason businesses remain open and successful. When loyal patrons are treated in this manner, it raises serious concerns about the culture, training, and leadership at this location.
I am requesting that corporate leadership conduct a thorough review of this incident, including staff conduct and managerial response, and provide a formal explanation of how Chipotle intends to ensure that no other customer is subjected to this type of treatment. Accountability, corrective action, and meaningful follow-up are warranted.

Decent size, food was good but the only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is because the chips always seem stale. It’s only noon, how can the chips be stale already? It was just brittle, dry and bland. Man when you get those good chips, it definitely makes the meal

My order was sloppy, the server was a bit rude and out of place . I asked for extra salsa and they almost refused to give me some even though how much I had just paid for my order. The cashier was trying to be helpful on all areas of the lobby despite there being a “manager” present. Very poor treatment of clients and workers.

The night shift here is hit or miss. Some won’t even acknowledge you and will stiff you without blinking an eye. But whoever was working the night shift Jan 14 2026 is awesome. Great portions, friendly, everything was clean and filled. It’s like a different location depending on the night. I have admittedly never tipped at Chipotle, but I did for the first time tonight.

The food at the chipotle was very delicious. We decided to get three tacos, cheese quesadillas, and a chicken burrito bowl. The location is very close to Gurnee Mills, Mall, and right off of the highway. The only reason I gave it low stars is because the service was horrendous. The girls behind the counter were extremely rude. But the food was delicious.

Just picked up the food and this small little section of meat is all they gave me. I thought it was weighted very lightly for spending 15 dollars on the bowl, and it looks empty on one side barely any servings of beans and meat. Pregnant and disappointed at the serving size for the price.

This will be my second time. I have experience this with the same lady as well. Being very stingy with the meats.I ordered chicken and literally put like ten chicken cubes on a burrito bowl i’ve seen everybody faces before and after me which was the same facial expression that I gave when she put so little which I paid for extra chicken.After I asked her, that’s it.And when she put the extra chicken is the same amount that the normal portion would be unacceptable….!

So I was talked about racially in line as I order my food in Spanish yet they didn’t knw I understood
Spoke with the general Manager who was dismissal had a full confortation with the staff called corporate and this is what they said
No compensation no real explanation no apology workers still working still racially profiling guest yet u got a entire team of Mexican workers that represent your brand and nothing but this statement was sent to me
