Food was excellent. A lot of choices on the buffet lines. This place never disappoints. From their meatballs to their lemon chicken to beef broccoli everything is fresh and well seasoned. Had exceptional service with Kia. She was the best. Bubbly and their when you needed anything. Well worth the tip.

A Taste of Regret: My Visit to Chinese Chef

I’d been eyeing this place for a while, hoping for a hidden gem. Unfortunately, I finally tried it—and wished I hadn’t.

Let’s start with the good: the customer service was solid. But that’s where the positives end.
The food? A disaster. The salad bar was passable, but everything else—General Tso’s, fried rice, crab rangoon—was a salt bomb of disappointment. Imagine high school cafeteria or prison food, but somehow worse. I’ve had Chinese food in six states, and this was, without a doubt, the worst. Even Hy-Vee’s takeout puts this place to shame.

General Tso’s should be foolproof—it’s just chicken and sauce! Yet, they still managed to ruin it. And, shockingly, no sweet and sour chicken? That’s like a burger joint skipping fries.

Then there were the health code red flags. Three times, I saw fresh food dumped on top of old food at the buffet—an absolute no-go.

Now, maybe ordering individual dishes and sitting down and eating would be better, instead of relying on the buffet, but I’m not eager to find out. Parsons doesn’t have endless dining options, but trust me—this shouldn’t be one of them.

Would I go back? Not even if I were starving.

Greatest care by the wait staff. Nice spread of food. Delicious. Buffet needs more low carb items for my diet, for a splurge? It’s to go for.

Freezing cold eating area. It was so cold that no sooner that we got to our table we found ourselves eating cold food. The waitress we had was a sweetheart. I should have left her a tip but couldn’t afford to seeing as they (the manager) charged me $40 for cold food for three people. I didn’t eat all my food so I asked if I can take what I had on my plate home and they said sure but you will pay extra… You mean to tell me I have to pay twice for my food that is on my plate?. What are you going to do take it back and feed it to someone else?. I’m disgusted with Parsons Chinese chef. Over priced cold food. The only thing that was good that came out of that experience was the sweet waitress that showed kindness.

Wonderful experience. Passing through town at 11:30, perfect perfect timing for warm delicious fresh food. Katrina was a very attentive and efficient server. Beautiful place. The food was kept warm and nicely presented as well. If I lived here, I would be a regular. Very affordable for all you get.
My only disappointment is the ice cream machine is broken

We enjoyed the buffet only $10.99 pp but they also have a take it menu for many dishes. Best value is the buffet.

Update: It’s now 26 hours after eating here. Missed a whole day of work from food poisoning. Gut wrenching agony and I wish I could leave zero stars.

Nothing but regrets after eating here. Ate lunch there yesterday with a friend and it wrecked me and my friend. I spent the rest of the day running to the toilet and all night with stomach cramps. This morning has been no different except the cramping is much worse.

As for the food, it’s bland and mostly fried options. The selection is weird for a Chinese buffet. I have never seen gas station food on a buffet before. The fried rice was the absolute worst I have ever had.

The server didn’t say two words to us, and seemed like she was in a hurry to get us out of there.

Lastly, this food is barely Chinese food. It’s more like watered down Chinese imitation that you would find in a nursing home or hospital.

$12 for a lunch buffet would be fine if the food was better. Here’s a hint, nobody goes out to Chinese to eat a salad, and deserts. The salad and deserts should be consolidated to one island. More Chinese food options and less fried gas station food.

The restaurant was very clean though
