I’d been eyeing this place for a while, hoping for a hidden gem. Unfortunately, I finally tried it—and wished I hadn’t.
Let’s start with the good: the customer service was solid. But that’s where the positives end.
The food? A disaster. The salad bar was passable, but everything else—General Tso’s, fried rice, crab rangoon—was a salt bomb of disappointment. Imagine high school cafeteria or prison food, but somehow worse. I’ve had Chinese food in six states, and this was, without a doubt, the worst. Even Hy-Vee’s takeout puts this place to shame.
General Tso’s should be foolproof—it’s just chicken and sauce! Yet, they still managed to ruin it. And, shockingly, no sweet and sour chicken? That’s like a burger joint skipping fries.
Then there were the health code red flags. Three times, I saw fresh food dumped on top of old food at the buffet—an absolute no-go.
Now, maybe ordering individual dishes and sitting down and eating would be better, instead of relying on the buffet, but I’m not eager to find out. Parsons doesn’t have endless dining options, but trust me—this shouldn’t be one of them.
Would I go back? Not even if I were starving.
My only disappointment is the ice cream machine is broken
We enjoyed the buffet only $10.99 pp but they also have a take it menu for many dishes. Best value is the buffet.
Nothing but regrets after eating here. Ate lunch there yesterday with a friend and it wrecked me and my friend. I spent the rest of the day running to the toilet and all night with stomach cramps. This morning has been no different except the cramping is much worse.
As for the food, it’s bland and mostly fried options. The selection is weird for a Chinese buffet. I have never seen gas station food on a buffet before. The fried rice was the absolute worst I have ever had.
The server didn’t say two words to us, and seemed like she was in a hurry to get us out of there.
Lastly, this food is barely Chinese food. It’s more like watered down Chinese imitation that you would find in a nursing home or hospital.
$12 for a lunch buffet would be fine if the food was better. Here’s a hint, nobody goes out to Chinese to eat a salad, and deserts. The salad and deserts should be consolidated to one island. More Chinese food options and less fried gas station food.
The restaurant was very clean though
