Essentially, there are. two types of Chinese restaurants, in the USA. The well-known commercial cookie-cutter style and “Family Style” or “HomeStyle”… Restaurants that serve their food “Family Style” virtually don’t exist. I was completely clueless to this until I just happened to order from a place in Southington, CT for the first time ever first at age 38 (and I’m no stranger to Chinese food). I believed this to be a rather special find at, this stage of my life. I’m, currently, 40 and I recently moved to Torrington. I, first, tried “Chinatown” bc it’s named after Chinatown in NYC and (at this moment) it is also the highest Google-rated local Chinese restaurant in this area. Reviewers seemed overly satisfied with the quality, the presentation and the price. The provided photos looked appetizing however the photos didn’t make me expect anything other than a solid upper quality standard Chinese joint – which is the best One would typically hope for. Pics don’t really do it justice. It’s something you need to experience, for yourself. Still, I did provide a photo of a Wonton uncut and cut which may help. (BTW, the prices are a dollar or 2 more for everything at the first place I discovered in Southington and I didn’t know why until I got home and ate it. Chinatown, here in Torrington, doesn’t charge more for the proper quality) I didn’t know what I was truly in for until my first bite due to competitive pricing and understanding this type of Commercial restaurant is extremely uncommon. Immediately, I knew this was a “Family-Style” restaurant and would continue to be my one and only go-to Chinese restaurant in this area. I even called and praised them after my meal. In fact, I still do to the delivery driver every time. It’s strange that, being an American, it took 38 years to discover this was even a thing then move to another region and by some stroke of dumb luck find one again. There just happens to be a select few restaurant owners who actually care enough to serve their patrons the same level of quality they serve for their family and for themselves. I appreciate that. I believe you will, also. Out of respect I am not going to mention the name of the other “Family-Style” restaurant other than the fact that it’s in Southington. Both prep their dishes and cuts of meat slightly different, which makes sense since it’s homestyle and we are all unique individuals, but neither is actually better than the other in terms of quality. As already mentioned the menu pricing at Chinatown is better due to it remaining competitive with the other cookie-cutter restaurants therefore I did not expect this. Skeptical? simply order the wonton soup and that’s enough right there to show you what I mean. Pick one out observe it try it. Notice that it isn’t loose & floppy with a gray ball of who_knows_what mixed with filler like you see basically everywhere else. I assume some company or two mass-produces, boxes and freezes the lesser-quality common Wonton we know all too well that is typically served at just about every Chinese restaurant around. It’s obvious the Wonton from Chinatown is freshly prepared in the restaurant like a ravioli/tortollini with the same high quality juicy fatty beef inside they use with their beef entries. And talk about AL dente -Stick a fork in it you better eat it or use something to slide it off. Perhaps you once knew of a local restaurant that serves “Family-Style” and you have moved within this area. We’ll, then look no further. Chinatown is your spot. Either way if you’re a fan of Chinese food just order from Chinatown. You won’t regret it. If you haven’t had “Authentic” homestyle Chinese food before then you are in for a fantastic treat and I guarantee YOU WILL NOT SETTLE FOR THE ‘FACTORY COMMERCIAL-STYLE’, AGAIN – if given the choice.

Love this place. It’s my top pick for chinese food in Torrington. I’ve rarely had issues with the food and they deliver fast 95 percent of the time. I’ve tried other fried rice around town and the rice here is my favorite out of them all.

found a chicken bone in our food, but that wasn’t the issue to why i’m leaving a bad review.

I got hunny chicken, the breading was so soggy and mushy. It didn’t taste like hunny or even smell like hunny. Crab ragoons were dry and barely had any filling. Low mein was the only thing half way decent and eggroll. I tried.

I have been searching for white meat chicken and broccoli since we moved back to the area. This is the best. This will be our favorite Chinese restaurant. Very good fried rice and egg rolls too. We both loved our meal.

I was reluctant to order from Chinatown as I have been disappointed by so many Chinese restaurants in the past, but I have ordered twice now and just ordered a third time and each time I had a great experience. The order was delivered promptly and the food was hot and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant at least for takeout as I have not eaten in the restaurant itself.

Terrible service and food. My brother in law went to get the food and they mistakenly gave it to someone else, when he asked for a new order they just wanted him to take the food the other customer was bringing back (disgusting). Also, they missed three orders of egg rolls like what?! Just go to 707 Asian fusion, better service and quality food.
