My go to are the tofu dishes (huge tofu pieces) but everything I’ve had is so good. If I’m craving BBQ pork fried rice, this is the place I’m choosing . The same two people always working there and are very nice. I mainly get take out and they’re on top of dishing out speedy orders.

Ordering on their website was easy, gave me a confirmation and pick up time. Sent an e-mail when it was ready, which was precisely at the suggested pick up time. Courteous staff when I picked it up. The food was delicious! The best barbecue pork egg foo young I’ve ever had and I always get EFY when I order Chinese at other places, many of which have closed, which is how I found China Star. The patties are full of chunks of meat, fried to crunchy perfection and the gravy was bland, but a perfect medium when I added soy sauce.
The combination fried rice was also the best I’ve had: Small tender shrimp, chunks of beef and chicken, large portion…delicious. This will be my new Chinese food place from now on.

Excellent Food Their egg rolls are the BOMB!!! And I don’t eat them often probably because I never had a good one until NOW! Service was great very quick to pick up. Beef and broccoli and beef fried rice and crab Ragoons are fantastic!

First and last time I will be there. Portions are a good size; rice is good; egg rolls are all wrapper and cabbage; chicken in the sweet and sour chicken had too much breading and were over cooked; the oil was old and someone forgot to remove the memborous fiber (tendrils) from the Pea pods. They were tough and stringy. I removed them myself, or threw them out.

The Kung Bo Chicken tasted Off. Weird unusual taste and the chicken was dry. The fried rice was fine, but the egg roll was basically mostly cabbage. But very little cabbage. Mostly just egg roll wrapper. Very disappointed. Now that’s my last 3 visits. Unfortunately I’m going to have to find another Chinese restaurant who DOESN’T use MSG. Very hard to find. They used to be Good. I’m wondering if it was because the Man who does most of the cooking wasn’t there and the lady cooked it? Because she seemed to be the only one there. But I know what Kung bo chicken should taste like and this tasted way Off …. We ended up throwing it away.

We’ve made 4 family sized purchases these last few months and have been
pleasantly surprised.
Here’s what we’ve noticed. The dinner shrimp are much larger and more numerous than the competition, the beef is tender and not chewy, and the chicken has a nice texture and is not rubbery like other places…
The portions are generous and they even include cardboard squares in your to-go bags to keep your bagged dinners stable. A nice detail for sure. China Star is MUCH better than that other place in Villa Park also on Roosevelt.

I thought it would be better. Seams like they may use the low sodium soy sauce, foor had little flavor. I got the rice noodle dish, fried rice and the orange chicken. It was okay.
