Look, I tried to give the place a chance. Everything was disgusting from the meat to the seafood and sushi. I think the best part was my soda. The chicken was soggy, the chicken had hair on it still. Crab rangoon’s tasted like something i’ve never tasted in them before. Didn’t even really have toppings for a salad. The service sucked too. I refused to tip they never came to fill my glass back up I had to ask. I will never come back here again. $38 for bull crap.

The outside of the restaurant looked ordinary but once you enter the restaurant, the stone carving meeting you was awesome. Reminds of a Suzhou garden. It gave me good vibes for a Chinese restaurant (especially in Ypsilanti, Michigan – a city that I did not know existed until I went there for dinner on a one night stay in Ann Harbor.) to have something like that carving. It gave you a sense that it makes it “authentic” Chinese food. No one would spend that kind of money to purchase that carving unless they have a good knowledge of Chinese history and culture. The little figures on the carving depicts ancient village life.
Once I entered the restaurant, it was full of chatter with customers eating pile high plates of crawfish and other shelled seafood items. Service was excellent and polite. Tables were cleared with finished dishes and tea refilled without asking. Food was temperature hot and fresh. Buffet food trays were constantly being replenished.
The Sushi bar had a great variety of sushi – at least ten varieties. The area the chefs worked in was clean; all wore gloves; ingredients were either fresh or fresh frozen (you can see the chefs take items out of the refrigerator when needed so no sushi would sit that long on a plate) and will custom a sushi for you (I don’t eat onions nor seafood but like the other ingredients in it). The variety of sushi was unbelievable for a buffet. I never seen anything like that. In SF, it would be a restaurant of its own.
There were so many choices of what to eat. I did not know where to start. I started with a few pieces of dim sum. That was good – just like any good restaurant in SF or in Hong Kong – well stuffed with ingredients and right amount of seasoning. Then I figured the other entrees must be good. I walked around the entire buffet and the selections looked tempting, each with its own aroma. Each entrée I tried was flavorful, well balanced with seasoning, temperature hot and delicious. Also, there was a huge dessert bar that would delight anyone – from American to Chinese desserts
Unfortunately, I could not take food pictures because it was so crowed. I definitely suggest that “this” is restaurant to go for delicious Chinese food. Also, it was the largest buffet I ever went to – even for Chinese food. I don’t think any other buffets can top this one – each dish with its own aroma and looked appealing, especially one that will not break your bank.

I come for the authentic Chinese Hot Pot. So, good. All the OG waitress know me. Once they see on the ticket that I ordered a few side of eggs? They know it’s me.

We came in at 11 when they opened, and the food tasted old. It seemed like they reused food from the previous day and just recooked it. You can tell they haven’t changed their oil for food consumption in a while. We also got dim sum, but it tasted like it came out of a frozen bag—definitely not good at all. The server was very rude when bringing us our food, and they served lukewarm water with no ice. This place used to be good, but now it’s very terrible.

Very good Chinese food. They have hot pot, Dim sum and the buffet option. I really enjoyed their food selections (during my weekend visit). Overall rating should be above 4 stars. I would come back if I am in the area.

The buffet was absolutely DISGUSTING. We got there and looked at the buffet all of it looked really gross and we got our plates the food was really cold, The people next to us said they had bugs in their food. Therefore, I went up to speak with the manager and tell her that the food was cold and none of us ate it except for a bite or two, it took her about 30 minutes to get back to our table. Meanwhile, while she was gone, two of the four boys threw up actually at the table. And then when we left the other two threw up outside at the restaurant and we had to stop at a gas station because he was continuing to throw up.. they only discounted four dollars off of our check. They gave us a lunch special, even though it was 9 PM and when I went up to the register to try and fight the ticket, she argued with me and told me there was nothing else she could do mind you none of our food was eaten and at this point two of the four people had thrown up at OUR TABLE. The manager also proceeded to come over to our table and look how much food we consumed and actually check if there was puke, Which there was. I will be calling health department Monday morning because I believe all four of the boys got food poisoning cause food was not at temp and probably had bacteria all grown on it. As well as the fried chicken was neon yellow when we bit into and the sweet and sour chicken was squishy, spongy and puke. Lastly, Nobody apologized for the food being cold or anybody puking they just kept trying to prove us wrong and making us pay. They were set on getting their money rather and no care to us. It was a very disappointing experience. And i recommend nobody to eat here. Ann Arbor has lots of other options that are delicious.

Worst service. Have been to the restaurant multiple times and tried all dim sum, buffet, and hotpot. I last visited on Wed. The restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. The servers rushed us by bringing the check to the table and asking whether we were done multiple times starting at 8:30 PM because we were the only table left. If you don’t want to stay open, you don’t have to.
Food was not actually too bad for the price.
There was barely decent sushi at the buffet. Servers were unhappy to be requested multiple meat refills for all-you-can-eat hotpot. Dim sum was fine especially with the price and the large portion. It’s worth ruining my mood with the service. Will never go back again.

This place came highly recommended by an old employee I worked with. So I came in during happy hour. Now for 16.99 plus tax would be this great bargain. The chicken was chewy it felt like rubber. I can always go for pork dumplings. So I go for some on my second plate. I didn’t get pork dumplings. I got pork dumplings with hair. Extremely let down and what made matters worse they tried still charging me something. First 50% off then just the drink. No Sir, you lucky I don’t call dept of health. Then they said they would comp my meal. So never coming back to this place again

Wow!! The China Palace restaurant is truly spectacular; and the ambience feels very royal.
The buffet is very impressive, and I ate an assortment of fresh sushi, shrimp, clams, mussels, blue crab, fish, salmon, egg, drop soup, and many other enjoyable entrées. The squid was also quite delightful.
Overall, this is by far the most gourmet Chinese buffet restaurant that I have eaten at in the state of Michigan, and it rivals the best of the best and culinary arts that I have frequently encounter in Washington DC.
If you have a hankering for some really good Chinese food, I recommend coming to this China Palace restaurant. I drove 120 miles each way, and it was very worth it!

Yikes. The quality has gone downhill drastically over the years. The food does not taste fresh at all, nor flavorful. The floors were sticky. The egg drop soup tasted goopy, like the texture of snot.
Honestly, looking around as I’m writing this, we‘re the only Asian patrons in the whole room and that’s how you know it ain’t good anymore unfortunately…
Go to the buffet in Livonia, or take the trek to Madison Heights to the Japanese buffet next to 168 if you really want a good Chinese buffet
