I’ve heard a lot of very good things about this place so I finally decided to give it a try. I have eaten at numerous Chinese restaurants in my lifetime and I’m not gonna lie when I say this place is hands down my all time favorite. The owner took my order and I was so impressed at how nice and inviting she was in explaining to me little specialties within the menu and their restaurant. I ordered the crabmeat delights, spring rolls, hot and pungent soup, and sesame chicken. Everything was phenomenal and it tasted like gourmet Chinese food. There wasn’t even a grain of pork fried rice left. I can’t wait to try many other things on the menu. A+++

We went to China Lotus 04 Feb 2024 to try it out as I saw it on Facebook, and it appeared to be a fun place to try. After spending almost $80.00 on (2) meals, an order of Crab Rangoon and (2) spring rolls we got home, and the food was not edible. I rarely leave bad reviews as I understand establishments have bad days and the food service industry is tough, but this was an exception to the rule. First issue was when asking the staff what the flavors were in certain dishes as they were not the ‘normal’ Chinese dishes, we were left with blank stares and “This is only my second day’ comments. We ordered anyways in hopes they were good. We got home and pulled the food out and though it was large portions, there was NO sauce. Basically, dry chicken and a weird steak meat that was over some dry noodles with no sauce and that dish was $20.00 alone. We also ordered sesame chicken and that was dry as well and completely flavorless. The Crab Rangoon tasted like a big ball of cream cheese with no crab rolled up and fried in a wonton and the spring rolls had little to no filling and were overcooked to say the least. Ultimately, I was very disappointed to have wasted almost $80 on dinner to just throw it in the trash. I even thought of repurposing the meat into another dish but couldn’t get past the blandness and overall weird texture. I hope they get better at their craft as last night’s experience was absolutely atrocious.

service was great no complaint there, & i dont really complain anyways. but man… the food just was not good. the sesame chicken was like sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds ?? rice had no flavor, the atmosphere was just old and depressing, & the smell of the place was so weird i should have walked out then… the house made duck sauce sucked, the egg rolls had shrimp in them (i should have read the menu more) but who puts shrimp in eggrolls ?? theres absolutely no good chinese food in this town. youll be disappointed coming here. youre better off going to the nasty MSG filled buffet down the street

China Lotus is our FAVORITE restaurant in Hammond! My husband and I have been eating here for over 10 years! The staff is always great! Christina always remembers exactly what we like to order.
As far as the food goes it’s phenomenal and by far the best Chinese restaurant in Tangipahoa!

Absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in the area. We love the Wor Wonton Soup, egg rolls, and combination fried rice. Huge portions, great flavor and excellent service.

Food is okay but they NEVER answer the phone! Ive had to go in twice to order pickup and the woman said the phone was just left off of the hook.

Food is always excellent and staff is great. Price is higher than most takeout places but quality is defnitely what you’re getting here.

This place was a recommendation to us. When we walked in, we should have known to walk right out. We decided to just give it a chance. Plates are small, meat looked like… well, ya know. Flower soup is their version of egg drop. ABSOLUTELY, no flavor- straight water with egg color. Food portions are small. Not worth the money at all. Service was good-
Just don’t do it to yourselves!

This used to be an amazing place for Chinese food but now…not so much. Service is not good and waitstaff attitude is like you are putting them out, possibly because there is not enough staff. Food is usually good but can be hit or miss flavor wise. Servings get smaller, especially lunch menu, although prices keep going up, and if you want white meat chicken then it’s even more. So sad because this is the only real non-buffet in the area.

This used to be a great place to eat. Over the years it’s gone downhill. The inside doesn’t even look like a Chinese restaurant anymore. The wait for service is absurd, there’s MAYBE one waitress for the place. Went last night and the lady waiting on us never cleared the appetizers plates, didn’t bring silverware til I asked. Really disappointed in how it’s gone so slum. The Chinese buffet down a few blocks is way better and my new go to is Johns Wok N Roll in Independence. At least the Wong family have kept their integrity in food.
