The steamed shrimp/chicken/vegetables with sauce on the side is really good (even without the sauce) and is a great way to have a low sodium chinese food meal.

This place has been in Palm Springs for a long time. The food is pretty decent compared to other Chinese restaurants in the desert.

Ambiance: There isn’t much ambiance just a large room with ample seating. This might explain why most customers seem to opt for takeout.

Service: Our waiter friendly but slow

Menu: The menu offers an excellent selection of standard Chinese dishes.

Quantity: Portions are generous, way more than our group of four could eat. We ended up taking home plenty of leftovers.

Quality: The food was first rate and delicious.

Overall: It’s a family run spot with solid food, generous portions, and good value. If you’re in the mood for Chinese food, it’s definitely worth a stop!

If you want the best Chinese food here in Palm Springs, this is the place. Not a first-time date place, since it’s not fancy in any way, but if you care more about the food, lights out out of bounds. I went for lunch and the portions are the size of the dinner menu. The flavor was another lever. Best Chicken Curry I have ever had. Kudos to this establishment!!!!

This place has been in PS for a very long time. Pretty decent food in comparison to any other Chinese restaurants in the desert. They remodeled which updated the resturant a bit. They have a good lunch menu where there is a decent portion of food for the price. Family run which is nice. If youre in the mood for Chines food worth the stop!

My husband and I went here for dinner tonight and were delighted. Affordable yummy dinner in Palm Springs?! I didn’t think it existed until this little gem proved me wrong. The ambiance is exactly what I want in a family run Chinese restaurant.

AMBIANCE:
There is no ambiance, just a big room with ample seating. That might be the reason the room was empty with all of their customers doing takeout.
SERVICE:
The waiter brought 2 waters and 2 tea cups for 4 people. Simple mistake, not a big deal.
MENU:
An excellent selection of standard choices.
QUANTITY:
Way more than our party of four could eat – took home bags of leftovers.
QUALITY:
First rate and delicious..
PRICE:
Too low. They’ll go broke if they don’t raise their prices. You can enjoy a great dinner here for less than $20.
FINAL ANALYSIS:
Judging by other reviews this is a place you’ll either love or hate. Our party of 4 senior’s loved it and will be back!

China King is the best “chinese” you’ll find in Palm Springs. Now don’t get excited, that’s not really saying a lot when you’re only other choice is Panda Express. If you’re wanting good Asian in Palm Springs, you’ll find it in many Thai places and some Vietnamese too. But Chinese remains the elusive category in PS. So, I decided to give China King a try.

So first the food. It’s not bad really… pretty standard but not bad. I’d say it’s fairly average for all the Americanized Chinese food I’ve had 50 plus years. The Kung Pao chicken was a little spicy but not much, and the flavor was ok. The chicken Lo Mein was on the bland side, but the noodles tasted fresh and there was lots of chicken pieces.

Prices are reasonable for Palm Springs, and they have some lunch specials and some good deals if you arrive before 5:00pm.

The portions are huge, each plate could feed two people as long as you’re not very hungry. The hot and sour soup was pretty good, but when they say a cup they mean a small cup for sure. They brought me brown rice without asking if I wanted brown or white. Which they may only have the brown, you might ask if you go.

A strong point here is the family that runs it are very friendly. Some younger ones of the family are helping out which is fine. They checked back on me a couple times. They do a LOT of take out business I noticed.

The restaurant itself is clean, but on the small side and sparse. My biggest “odd” observation was actually the front door. Reminded me of a fire escape door at a theater. Just a solid metal double door. If they were to replace it with a nicer wood/glass window door it would go a long way of making the place a bit more inviting. Some pendant lighting above the booths instead of just can lights in the entire place would also help cozy things up a bit. But I digress.

So for Chinese food in Palm Springs it’s China King or fast food. I’d go back to China King to explore the menu a little, maybe pick up some quick take out some night. But I’d like to find some tastier dishes there, before I’d consider taking out of town friends. For now if they want chinese, I’d probably steer them to some Thai or just say … “Gas up the car, were getting on the I-10 south”.

Food is fantastic. Busy place with very generous portions. Not the sexiest restaurant but you go here for the food and their great service. Food comes out very fast.
Try the assorted appetizers. A taste of several things. Another great disk is the fried pork in garlic sauce. Overall a really good place with great food.

I used to go there when I lived in Palm springs. And I was a frequent customer. I see how the little kids have grown up to be adults running the restaurant and I have to say. The food tastes like rubber junk now.
What happened did you forget to taste your own food it’s like slop. Take a look what you serve.

Felt very sketchy, bathrooms smelled bad and liked bad but service was good. The workers are polite and the happy hour deal is really good for the portion of food. I hope they renovate some day, the place has a lot of potential.
