Traveling and found this gem. I don’t do reviews often, and usually because something was exceptionally horrid. This is one of those times when something was so astoundingly epic I get the pleasure of HAVING to post a review.

Got the General Chicken special with Won Ton soup. The serving was HUGE, served fast even though they were pretty busy, and was perfectly cooked. The soup was something special. Cream cheese rangoon was delicious. The chicken and rice were sweet but with an excellent spice. The complete special and two coke zero cans for $13.65?! In this economy?!

And the service? They could serve me dirt on a plate and I would be happy with it because of the genuine joy and pleasure everyone I interacted with had. He even skipped me past the tip screen when cashing me out because he didn’t feel like he checked on me enough (and dude was going to get a $20 tip for everything he did)… this place is too much.

If you are going through town, you owe it to yourself to visit. Thank you to everyone for the best meal of the trip so far!

China Hy Express did not disappoint. We were passing through on a roadtrip and stopped for dinner. My husband got the General Tso combo with wonton soup. He said it was the best General Tso he’s ever had. (That’s his favorite dish. He tries it everywhere we go.). My son had the Orange Chicken combo with egg drop soup. I had the Almond Chicken with egg drop soup. We all liked everything in the combos! Service was great. Portion sizes were great. We all have leftovers.

Had lunch at China Hy Express the other day and it turned out pretty good. The food came out hot and fresh, and the portions were big enough to fill me up. I tried the orange chicken, and it had that nice balance of crispy and sweet. The staff was polite, though service could’ve been a bit quicker. The place was clean and prices were fair

This was a great find on our road trip. The orange chicken is the best we’ve had. The family-friendly atmosphere was very accommodating for our 18-month old.

I was in Lexington, and looking for a dining option other than a chain or Mexican food. This was the only thing Google came up with, and it really knocked it out of the park. This is one of the four best places I know around the country for Chinese food.
It seems to be very popular with the locals; enough that they relocated to a bigger Location. I chose the shrimp with lobster sauce, since I had never seen that option anywhere before. I noticed there were some sides listed on the menu, and figured it was a one-or-the-other kind of option. Boy was I wrong. Your meal comes with the rice, the egg roll, soup, and the crab Rangoon. My only regret is not realizing they had Vietnamese style coffee. I just ordered the tea like I always do, and face-palmed myself when I saw the Vietnamese coffee on the menu.
Just watching the flow of people in and out, it became obvious in a hurry that the staff knew everyone, and even offered at least one kid a toy of some sort. He also suggested I try the chili oil, a seasoning I had never seen offered on the table at any other eatery. He was spot on with his recommendation, since it added a little heat without interfering with the charm of the dish.
This is a friendly, community oriented place with darn good food. If I am in Lexington again, I will eat here.

Great place to stop and eat! Had kung pao chicken and Mongolian chicken. Both were great better than I’ve tasted in a while. Check out the pics! 🙂

I made the mistake of not dining at this restaurant sooner. The chef is a delight and makes the dining experience worth it alone. He has built excellent rapport with his regular customers. On top of that, the food is delicious as well! Be sure and try any their shrimp dishes, you won’t regret it.

Not only is the food here great, the experience is equally as enjoyable. Food has great flavor and tastes fresh and authentic. We are not from here but we would likely make it a stop next time we come!

Stopped here on our way back to Chicago. Awesome food and what a friendly environment. They were great with helping with our little kids and more importantly getting them to actually eat. Highly recommend the Mongolian Beef! Well worth the stop!
