I went around 630pm for dinner. There were several vehicles in the parking lot, so I assumed that meant the buffet would be fresh & full. It was cold & almost clamy feeling once I sat down. There was so much water/moisture inside the window & perimeter from condensation, I’m guessing? The buffet was full, & seemed fresh for the most part. I tried 2 kinds of chicken, one was the General’s, & the other was Hibachi. After one big piece of each, I felt like neither were cooked enough because they were both squishy-like. I tried smaller pieces but just couldn’t do it after that, I was afraid of eating undercooked chicken & getting sick. The cabbage, green beans, & seafood crab melt casserole were all good. There was a cooler with individual cups of chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry ice cream; the strawberry was good. I looked around every buffet station but did not see a single bowl, only plates. I wanted a bowl to put my rice in separately but had to use another plate instead, which was fine, except my rice got cold very quickly. My total was more than $13 with tax, so I’m guessing the buffet was $12.99 since I got water to drink.

Yuck! Do not waste your time. Me and my dad were passing through and we love a good chinese buffet, this however was far from good, as soon as we walked in we were greeted by more good on the floor than on the buffet and what was on the buffet was nasty!! Didn’t even have fried rice and all the different types of “chicken” were either so slimey or dry that you can’t even talk yourself into finishing it. Its been 20 minutes since eating and we already feel sick to our stomachs. Do your self a favor and never eat at this place!!!

I ordered Sesame Beef which is on the menu & got sesame Chicken which I can’t have & told the lady that several times!! She acted like she didn’t know how to do that! Then acted like she figured it out. Why I didn’t check it when I picked it up, I’ll never know!

Would give this place 0/5 stars if I could. Went there recently and found a spider cooked into my food after taking already taking a few bites. I notified staff and the manager lady at the front desk and after inspection she just said sorry. I took pictures of the spider and then left. Later that night I ended up getting sick and puked several times. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

Came in last night around 715 all food was cold except pepper steak. I requested dumplings they came out half done and falling apart. I then requested frog legs and fish after 30-45 still wasn’t there. I asked the man who was serving drinks he said the food was cooking. Long story short at 9pm I just said forget it. Lady was upset because I told her I didn’t feel we should pay full price for the food since it was cold. Never got a drink refill either. Best thing there yesterday was the egg drop soup. Let me add was she finally agreed for me to pay half she snatched my card and slammed the receipt on the counter

Since they changed ownership, the quality of food has drastically gone down. If you love ginger, you might like their food. I do NOT recommend getting crab Rangoons as the cream cheese filling seemed expired.

I’ve been here many, many times but wanted to eat here a couple more times before doing my review. When I was a kid I remembered everything being so lively, and back then it looked like the waitresses enjoyed their jobs, I also remember everything tasting delicious. Sadly tho, these past few years things have been going downhill. I was planning on eating here one day, (I do believe that it was either Thursday or Monday), and the restaurant was closed. I was very disappointed because this was not the usual day that China House Buffet is closed. And one of the last times I was here the air conditioner was broken, it wasn’t even February yet tho… The front doors had to be open due to this and I noticed a few bugs that flew in. The waitresses that I saw didn’t seem pleased with their working conditions whatsoever, and there were very few waitresses and waiters. Sometimes I even notice that the man who is usually up front ends up having to wait tables, I can only assume that they have become short-staffed. The last three times that I ate here, I noticed that almost everybody that came in wanted to-go trays instead of wanting to sit down and eat. I can totally understand why. The liveliness and great atmosphere that was part of my childhood has disappeared. To be honest, I feel sorry for the owner because I noticed that I’m not the only person who wrote a review and mentioned how much that China House Buffet has gone downhill since childhood.

We stop here a lot on our way back from St Louis and it’s usually amazing but this time when we stopped it was horrible. Food was hard and dry most of it cold, half the buffet was empty despite them being open for another two hours, service was non-existent. Makes me sad cause we usually make it a point to stop here rather than the many places in St Louis.
