I decided to give them another chance on my Pork Lo Mein, bad idea! The noodles were less than an inch long flavorless and overcooked not sure how that happens

I loved this dirty little Chinese place but the health department didn’t. They’re currently closed due to health code violations. Even if they reopen, that might have killed their business.

There are a few things they do well but everything else is a hit-or-miss. You pretty much can’t go wrong with their beef lo mein; it’s the one thing that is consistently yummy. Outside of that, we’ve probably ordered from them over a half dozen times in the last 3 years and it’s always disappointing. Their chicken dishes are often bland, dry and kind of startling bleached-white. They have that super weird yellow-hued rice (turmeric seasoning maybe?) that seems to be a Shiawassee county thing — we’ve experienced it at a few different Asian restaurants out here. I grew up in metro Detroit and fried rice is supposed to be brown — not neon orange. Their gravy is pretty disgusting and every time I’ve got dumplings (either in my wonton soup or fried), they seem undercooked and borderline raw. That said, 3 stars because for $6ish, you can get the lunch special from 11am-2pm with what seems like nearly a pound of pretty great beef lo mein and odd-colored but otherwise passable fried rice.

They always make us the most best food. Thank you for supplying Durand with a good restaurant.

**China House Review**
I went to China House, you see,
On Monroe Road, in Durand, MI.
It isn’t much to look at, no,
But the food was good, and the staff said hello.
On Christmas Eve, we needed a meal,
To celebrate my birthday, it was a big deal.
Chinese restaurants open on holidays, it’s true,
And China House was open, just for me and you.
We dined in, though it was quite a feat,
For the containers were packed with so much to eat.
Chicken on top, rice and veggies below,
Eating at home, this would be no woe.
The locals came in, they knew what was best,
China House in Durand, it passed the test.
Friendly employees and food galore,
We’ll be back for more, that’s for sure!

Absolutely the worst “food” I have EVER purchased! Not one item of mine nor my husband’s was edible. Even the dogs refused to eat anything! I can’t believe I wasted money at that place. I gave it a second chance and I definitely shouldn’t have.

General Tso’s Chicken (could be a touch spicier in my personal opinion) from this place is great, so is the sweet and sour chicken and beef lo mein! I’ve eaten in the place before, nothing to write home about; small, clean. Cooks and cashier are friendly.

Everything was not good at all chicken tasted like it was refried and rice was old and slimey. Lady acted like I was an inconvenience being there. The kitchen was visibly DISGUSTING must I add.

Didn’t get food. Ordered and waited 15 minutes before going to pickup, restaurant packed for pickup Christmas Day. Hadn’t started my order when i arrived. I canceled and drove to Perry. That is not their usual experience. I’ve always gotten hot food in a timely manner. They were just not up to the rush on Christmas.

First time ordering here and it couldn’t have gone worse. Place our order at 5pm was told 10-15 minutes. Showed up at 5:20 and they said they were running behind and it would be another 10 minutes. I walk up to the counter at 6:10 and ask what is going on and where our food was and they scrambled, looked around and said our order ticket had fallen onto the ground. Didn’t get our food until 6:35pm. I could have brushed it off but the food wasn’t even good once we got home to eat. Never going back here again, the Chinese in linden is 10x better and half the price.
