From the time we walked in the door, geeted by Sandy Fan, until we left very satisfied with our lunch that left us looking forward to our next visit, this was a good experience!
Unfortunately I did not take pictures until our main courses arrived, so you won’t see a picture of our soups or the vegetable egg rolls. Both of which were wonderful. There were 3 of us, so we tried each of the soups offered: wonton, egg drop, and hot and sour. My favorite (as it’s what I ordered) was the egg drop soup. It was so good. So evident that they use fresh ingredients at this restaurant. It had celery, carrot, green onion and egg in the hearty broth.
The vegetable egg roll was very good – not greasy. And the sauces they bring you to dip them in – sweet and sour, spicy garlic and hot mustard – they make those so they are fresh when brought to your table (we heard her making them).
Main courses shown in the pictures are Moo Goo Gai Pan, Chicken with Broccoli, and Cilantro Chicken. All were so good! But I’ve got to say – the Cilantro Chicken dish was the winner with chicken, cilantro, jalapeno, and garlic.
Overall a great lunch experience! We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful lunch!

This was my first time at this restaurant and I am greatly disappointed. The previous reviews were positive! Only after arriving home and throwing the take out in the trash did I notice that most reviews are pre-covid. Upon arrival there is a sign on the building stating “Due to COVID we are take out only”. I had called ahead and my order was waiting. Nice. However, when I got home and opened the boxes…..oh no. The vegetable lo mein is a ball of mush with a few pieces of broccoli on top. and the chicken fried rice is no better. I do not know why I ventured to taste it. I dished some out, added some soy sauce, and….had to spit it out. So gross. Burnt old oil flavor! All of it into the trash!

Delicious Chinese food, every single time I’ve ordered from here over the past 5 years. The owner/chef has always been the same, nothing has changed from pre-covid to now. Same great food, same great cooking.
Reading some of the recent reviews, I want to confirm that the restaurant is still take-out only since 2020, but so is the only real competition in this town for best Chinese restaurant, Dynasty Restaurant.
China Fortune is also the only Chinese restaurant that I’ve ever been able to get to make a dish spicy enough for my taste.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was probably five years old. This is, and always has been, the best Chinese food in Athens. Sandy is the best and her food is too. The best fried pork dumplings and chicken fried rice I’ve ever had!

We’re new to the area and have been trying to find our new go-to Chinese place. This is by far the best we’ve had! Everything we got was delicious. They have some interesting menu choices beyond the standard Chinese take-out that I can’t wait to try more of. The prices are fantastic. Will definitely be ordering here regularly.

The freshest, the best sauces and most authentic (if you care about that). One of the top 3 places all my friends who visit from out of town want to return to every time.
By FAR the best choice for Chinese Food in Athens. Unless you like food poisoning. Owned and operated by long time Athens resident and featuring a great traditional menu. Sometimes the servers are new. Have patience. The food is awesome.

Great food and friendly service, I can’t really ask for much more.
So far I have had the Cilantro chicken and spicy chicken lo mein. Both were excellent, as are the sides of steamed or fried rice. The white was well cooked and the fried was tasty, and the veggies were nice and crunchy. It hit the spot both times.

Amazing jewel of authentic Chinese food in Athens OH! We were lucky that the owners decided to settle here 1.5 years ago when the left China. They had a restaurant there. I love coming here and trying authentic food and never running out of options. I love the food and service and highly recommend it.
