At the Chilli Raj we strive to provide tradition and new contemporary dishes using only our authentic Bangladeshi spices and herbs. Our aim is to ensure that all our customers receive the best service and care. We have an excellent selection of beers, spirits and wines. We also offer a take out and delivery service using our own website, over the phone, as well as Just Eat and Deliveroo. We’ve been established as a family – run restaurant for the last 18 years and our focus is to become the best branded Restaurant in Hertfordshire.

I had a delivery.
It was an absolutely fantastic meal that truly showcased the best of Indian cuisine. The chicken tikka starter was tender, juicy, and perfectly marinated with just the right amount of smoky char from the grill—an irresistible way to begin the meal.
The chicken vindaloo was the star of the evening: bold, fiery, and deeply flavourful without overpowering the palate. The balance of heat and spice was spot on, making each bite both exciting and satisfying.
To complement it, the Bombay potatoes were cooked to perfection—soft in the middle with a gently spiced coating that paired beautifully with the curry. The plain boiled rice was light and fluffy, the perfect base to soak up the rich vindaloo sauce. And the plain naan bread was everything it should be: warm, pillowy, and slightly crisp around the edges, ideal for scooping up every last bit of the meal.
Altogether, this combination delivered a complete and authentic dining experience—comforting, flavourful, and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty and satisfying Indian meal.

Chilli Raj is a very nice curry house. The food was very nice and everyone knows my group enjoyed it greatly. The nans and curry dishes were a good size, although I felt that the rice portions were on the smaller side. The price was quite high, although not too far away from what you might expect to pay elsewhere.
We were there quite early so it was quite quiet, so the atmosphere wasn’t anything special but the service was very fast.
Overall, I recommend it.

I visited this Restaurant with my family today, it was a superb experience. The food was excellent as was the service too and attention to our needs was friendly and professional. The place is small and cosy, spotlessly clean with a lovely ambiance. The staff really looked after us and complimented our grandchildren on their good table manners, politeness and behavior.
Arif was a great ambassador for the company and made us all feel very welcome. We highly recommend this place, it is well worth a visit and we will certainly be eating here again. Thanks to all of the team.

Ordered take out tonight to celebrate return of first born from Uni for Christmas.
On time delivery. All dishes were excellent. Particularly enjoyed my Chicken Tikka Balti. Super thick robust sauces. Delicious.
Having tried a few alternatives recently that have been ‘ok’ – I am reminded why this is out ‘go to’ take out Curry house in St Albans.

Great restaurant! Had a lovely evening meal here, the chicken madras was wonderful, and the tandoori lamb chops were amazing! The service was brilliant, everything came out so promptly, and we were checked on frequently, you can tell the staff really care about their customers. The atmosphere was cosy, calming music and very comfortable. Will be returning soon!

Last time we ate here once or twice a week, every week for many years, this was in 2017, 8 years ago now, and tonight 10th July 2025 we decided it’s time to revisit the restaurant, and was not disappointed, the food was superb, and is still a quality curry house, we will definitely be going back again, as it was, and is, still our favorite place for a curry, and we have many fond memories from those past times, the management, Kash, Mo, and waiters back then we’re very friendly, as were the waiters tonight, and they made us feel very welcome, and that’s what makes the “Chilli Raj” the best curry restaurant in our opinion. Superb dishes and staff, make for a very pleasant meal. We Highly recommend the Chilli raj for consistency and quality. And this is our go to restaurant every month now, love the waiters, so friendly and that makes for a good eating place, good waiters are worth their weight in gold, as being front of house, the guys are very welcoming and helpful. 10/09/2025 Thankyou team, that was a very tasty chicken tikka bhuna and pilau rice10/10 and cheers for adding the spicy tomato pickle this is definitely the best Indian restaurant in St Albans
